According to health sector statistics, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease affects 4.2% of the population over 40 years old, the rate of asthma is 4.1%, however, only about 29% of patients receive preventive treatment. Early diagnosis of the disease is still limited when about 35% of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma are detected before complications appear. According to health experts, the most worrying thing is not only daily difficulty breathing, but also "acute episodes" - when symptoms flare up violently, patients have to change their regimen, even go to the emergency room.
Doctors recommend that people who detect signs of difficulty breathing, chronic cough or phlegm, a history of recurrent lower respiratory tract infections or a history of exposure to risk factors such as cigarettes, tobacco, frequent exposure to dust, coal stoves, polluted environments; occupational dust... should immediately check their respiratory function to prevent chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and bronchial asthma. These are two diseases that are silently threatening the health of Vietnamese people.
