Of the 11 main groups of goods and services, 6 groups increased in price, notably housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials, which increased sharply by 1.51%. The main reason was the high demand for electricity and water during the peak of the hot season; in addition, house rental prices and housing maintenance costs also recorded an upward trend.
Other commodity groups increased slightly, including: garment, hat, and footwear group increased by 0.24%; household equipment and appliances group increased by 0.06%;education group increased by 0.01%; culture, entertainment, and tourism group increased by 0.11%; and other goods and services group increased by 0.21%.
On the other hand, the food and catering services group decreased by 0.64%, contributing to curbing the overall CPI increase. Prices of food items such as rice, corn, vegetables, meat and seafood all decreased thanks to abundant supply. However, the cost of eating out still increased slightly due to increased input material and labor costs. The transportation group also decreased by 0.44% due to the downward adjustment of gasoline prices during the month.
Compared to the same period last year, the CPI in May 2025 increased by 3.91%; compared to December last year, it increased by 2.13%. In the first 5 months of 2025, the province's CPI increased by 4.21% compared to the same period last year. The groups with high increases include: medicine and medical services (13.72%); housing, electricity, water and construction materials (9.42%) and food and catering services (4.8%)...
