Industrial production index in the first 4 months of the year increased by 8.4%

Industrial production in April 2025 nationwide continued its positive growth trend. The index of industrial production (IIP) in this month alone is estimated to increase by 1.4% over the previous month and by 8.9% over the same period last year.

In the first four months of 2025, IIP is estimated to increase by 8.4% over the same period last year (increased by 6.3% in the same period in 2024). Of which, the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 10.1% (increased by 6.5% in the same period in 2024), contributing 8.5 percentage points to the overall increase; the electricity production and distribution industry increased by 5.1% (increased by 13% in the same period in 2024), contributing 0.5 percentage points; the water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment industry increased by 10.2% (increased by 6% in the same period in 2024), contributing 0.1 percentage points; the mining industry decreased by 4.5% (increased by 4.1% in the same period in 2024), causing a decrease of 0.7 percentage points.

Some industries increased quite well, such as motor vehicle production increased by 35.1%; leather and related products increased by 16.7%; rubber and plastic products increased by 16.4%; garment production increased by 15.7%; wood processing and production of products from wood, bamboo, rattan... increased by 15.2%; coke production, refined petroleum products increased by 14.1%; textiles increased by 10.5%...

The number of workers working in industrial enterprises as of April 1 increased by 0.7% compared to the same period last month and increased by 5.1% compared to the same period last year.
