The shape of the bell of Hong Phuc pagoda is similar to the bell of Da Son pagoda ( Da Nang ), a pagoda bell considered to be the earliest in Quang Nam. The size of the bell is medium, not a large bell. The height of the bell is about 80-90cm, the mouth of the bell is 40-45cm. There are several large holes on the body of the bell, probably caused by artillery shells from war.
This bell was cast by the Association Chairman Nguyen Si Tai (alias Dao Tri), Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hung (alias Dieu An) and the village leaders such as the Chief, the Village Chief and the villagers.
The bell does not clearly state the year, only "good day, February, year of Quy Hoi". However, the Han Nom text on the bell mentions the information "Ha Nong commune, Ha Dong district, Thang Hoa prefecture, Quang Nam region, Dai Viet country". Accordingly, the bell of Hong Phuc pagoda was cast at the latest in 1743, one cycle earlier than the bell of Da Son pagoda in At Hoi year - 1755. At the same time, the inscription on the bell also shows the name of the pagoda at that time was Sung (?) Khanh.
The inscription on the bell also represents Buddhist philosophy and the spirit of kindness, “praying for peace, asking for blessings”, and enlightenment together. The bell of Hong Phuc Pagoda will contribute more documents about the history of the land and Buddhism in Quang Nam.
