On the occasion of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23), we respectfully introduce 4 National Treasures in Can Tho City.

National treasures are artifacts of special value, rare and typical, recognized by the Prime Minister . 4 National treasures are being preserved and promoted at Can Tho City Museum belonging to the Oc Eo culture (1st-7th century), found at the Nhon Thanh Archaeological Site (Nhon Ai commune).
Nhon Thanh casting mold set

The treasure, dating from the 1st-7th centuries, is the first National Treasure of Can Tho City, recognized in 2017. The Nhon Thanh casting mold set is a typical invention of the goldsmith craft, which was very developed during the Oc Eo culture period. The set of treasures includes 11 artifacts such as metal slag samples; terracotta pots and metal pouring cups; tools used to bend ceramic bracelets; hand-crafted molds made from fine-grained slate; metal artifacts compatible with one side of the mold.
Nhon Thanh ceramic vase

Dating back to the 5th century, recognized as a National Treasure in 2018. This is an artifact of special value, demonstrating the pinnacle of craftsmanship in pottery making and the unique aesthetic thinking of Oc Eo residents. The vase is made of fine, hard clay; light gray ceramic body, light yellow ceramic coat; spherical body; low neck; bent mouth; wide shoulder, one side with a spout slanted upwards, decorated with a ring rim at the tip of the spout; narrow round bottom; low base in the shape of a scarf.
Nhon Thanh Buddha Statue

Dating back to the 4th to 6th century, carved from a block of dark brown wood, in the tribhanga position (standing to the right) on a two-tiered lotus platform with soft, graceful lines. The unique artifact has special value, representing the art of Buddhist sculpture in wood in the Oc Eo culture. In 2018, the Nhon Thanh Buddha Statue was recognized by the Prime Minister as a National Treasure.
Linga - Yoni of Nhon Thanh wood

The 5th century treasure is rectangular in shape, with the linga in the center carved in a position lying completely inside the yoni. The artifact was recognized as a National Treasure by the Prime Minister in 2020.
