On this occasion, Tien Thuan Cooperative and experts from IRRI and related institutes, schools, businesses and units also shared experiences and techniques in straw processing, exchanged and answered questions from delegates. At the same time, discussed and proposed solutions to strengthen links and cooperation to promote the development of circular economic models from straw and improve efficiency in management and use of straw in a sustainable direction, increasing the rice value chain associated with reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

With the support of the Can Tho City Department of Agriculture and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, IRRI, and related units, in recent times, farmers at Tien Thuan Cooperative have had the opportunity to increase production efficiency and income by participating in the implementation of a high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation model, while making good use of straw by-products to develop a circular economic model. The Cooperative has been supported to access and apply many types of modern machinery to collect and process straw in a circular manner. Straw is used to grow straw mushrooms and the waste straw substrate continues to be reused as organic fertilizer.
