The monument "Thunder of Route 5" is a place to pay tribute to soldiers and guerrillas who died in mine operations on Route 5 and the Hanoi - Hai Phong railway.
According to historical records, after the August Revolution in 1945, the French colonialists returned to invade our country for the second time. To ensure the smooth flow of two vital traffic routes, serving the transportation of weapons, military equipment and soldiers from Hai Phong city to the entire Northern battlefield, especially the Dien Bien Phu stronghold, the French established many fortified posts and watchtowers; at the same time, they launched many patrols and sweeps along both sides of Route 5 and the surrounding areas, causing many crimes. In the photo: On top of the monument are three loyal people from Hai Duong , one holding a gun, the other holding explosives.
