Science and technology development policy in the Mekong Delta region

NDO - On the morning of April 17, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics Branch in Vinh Long organized a scientific seminar with the theme: "Policy to promote science, technology, innovation and digital transformation in localities to implement Resolution 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation".

Attending the event were Vice Chairwoman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh.

The presentations at the seminar focused on practical contents for localities in the Mekong Delta region such as: the key role of the trio (science, technology, innovation and digital transformation) in local development; building a local startup and innovation ecosystem; perfecting institutions and improving the effectiveness of digital transformation in the public sector; the model of research and development linkage and innovation between the State-school-enterprise; and international experience and Vietnam's aspirations in promoting digital transformation, promoting sustainable GDP growth in the period 2026-2030.

The seminar is especially aimed at provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region. Together with the whole country, these localities are restructuring administrative boundaries while promoting the enhancement of science and technology capacity, innovation and digital transformation to promote sustainable socio-economic development.

In practice, provinces and cities in the region are making strong movements in restructuring growth models, transforming economic structures and digitizing key sectors to make meaningful contributions to the overall development of the country.

The seminar aims to make many practical contributions to the development and completion of science and technology policies, innovation and digital transformation in localities. Thereby, contributing to putting Resolution 57 into practice effectively, synchronously and in accordance with the development characteristics of the Mekong Delta region.
