On August 20, Military Region 5 and the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to assess the situation and deploy preparedness for responding to incidents, natural disasters and search and rescue in 2024. Quang Ngai is one of the provinces frequently affected by storms, tropical depressions, tornadoes accompanied by prolonged heavy rain. According to statistics, from 2020 to present, the province has had 841 natural disasters, killing and injuring dozens of people, and causing an estimated property damage of VND 1,900 billion.

Every year, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue has reviewed and supplemented plans and forces, strengthened the Steering Committee, inspected the work of natural disaster prevention and control and search and rescue of units. At the same time, direct agencies and units to advise local Party committees and authorities on the leadership and direction of disaster response and search and rescue work. Sign contracts with 8 units of the Ministry of National Defense and Military Region 5 located in the province to carry out disaster response and search and rescue tasks, unify forces, means and areas of responsibility.
The province has installed 89 automatic rain and water level measuring stations in river and reservoir areas. Regularly exchange and provide timely information on natural disasters to all levels and the community on mass media and social media platforms.
From 2020 to present, the Provincial Military Command has mobilized more than 13,000 people and 798 vehicles to participate in responding to and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, contributing to stabilizing people's lives.

Recently, earthquakes have frequently occurred in some provinces in the Central and Central Highlands regions, so units and localities in Military Region 5 need to be extremely vigilant and take precautions against major risks caused by natural disasters.
