Conference overview

According to reports from departments and branches, Binh Duong is currently one of the leading dynamic economic centers in the South, with an estimated import and export turnover of 59 billion USD in 2024. Of which, exports reached 34.5 billion USD (up 12.7%), imports 24.5 billion USD (up 12.2%), and a trade surplus of 10 billion USD. The US market alone has always accounted for a large proportion of the province's export activities, contributing over 43% of total export turnover in recent years.

According to statistics from the Regional Customs Department XVI, as of the morning of April 10, 31 businesses had their orders canceled. The Customs Department has canceled 88 declarations according to regulations. The industries most affected are: wooden furniture, textiles, footwear, electronic equipment and plastics.

The customs sector has been promoting a sense of responsibility, arranging staff to handle procedures outside of working hours if requested by businesses, and closely coordinating between units so that goods can be cleared quickly. Some other specific recommendations such as: speeding up tax refunds, limiting screening channel transfers, supporting the extension of bonded warehouse storage time... are also being considered.

Businesses speak at the conference

At the conference, industry associations and businesses proposed solutions to contribute to scenario building and preparing for both possibilities: the US keeps the tax unchanged or continues to increase it after 90 days.

Customs sector continues to accompany businesses

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Minh Tri emphasized that in the coming time, the province will implement more transparent measures to prevent the situation of "disguised" enterprises and trade fraud in exports.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested that businesses proactively and calmly maintain a stable workforce and promptly report difficulties to the province so that quick response teams from departments, branches and sectors can provide timely support. In addition, the province will propose to temporarily reduce inspection and examination activities of businesses from now until the end of June 2025 to create conditions for businesses to stabilize production.
