The incident happened on December 22, when the groom Mehtab and his relatives came to the bride's house in Hamidpur village, Uttar Pradesh state, India.
The bride's family welcomed them warmly, but soon the atmosphere became tense. The groom's relatives thought the bride's family was serving food too slowly, and that there might not be enough food for the wedding.
The groom was furious. He decided to leave the party, canceling the wedding without leaving any explanation.
The story became even more surprising when, that night, the groom Mehtab married another woman. This girl was a distant relative of the bride.
The unexpected incident shocked the bride’s family. They filed a complaint with the authorities, accusing the groom’s family of receiving $1,865 (VND47.5 million) in dowry before leaving halfway through the wedding.
Upon receiving the information, the police intervened and organized a reconciliation between the two parties on December 25. The groom's family agreed to return the dowry. After receiving the money back, the bride's family withdrew the complaint.
