President and National Assembly Chairman present Dien Hong journalism award

Hanoi On the evening of June 9, President Vo Van Thuong and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue presented the first national press award on the National Assembly and People's Councils (Dien Hong award).

Congratulating the award-winning authors, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that one of the sources of encouragement that has contributed to enhancing the position, strength and prestige of the National Assembly and People's Councils over the years is the comprehensive, persistent and creative contribution of the country's press.

According to Mr. Hue, in its role as an important bridge, closely connecting elected bodies with the people and voters nationwide, the Vietnamese press is increasingly demonstrating itself as a collective propagandist, collective cheerleader, and at the same time a channel of intellectual and responsible criticism towards the country.

The state press and media system has proactively propagated and contributed to the implementation of the Party's policies and guidelines institutionalized by the National Assembly and People's Councils through decisions and action movements nationwide. The press has also truthfully and vividly reflected the legitimate thoughts and aspirations of all sectors, all classes, voters, people nationwide and overseas Vietnamese to the National Assembly and People's Council forums.

"Press agencies, generations of reporters and editors always accompany and devote themselves to the activities of the National Assembly and People's Councils not only with responsibility but also with affection, enthusiasm, and passion for creativity; thereby, constantly progressing and comprehensively maturing," said the National Assembly Chairman.

He assessed the entries as being elaborately invested, rich in topics, sharp in content, massive in scale, diverse in style and modern in journalism. Among them, many journalistic works were exploratory, innovative, new, creative, attractive and well received by readers.

After more than 4 months of launching, Dien Hong Award has received 3,328 entries from 171 domestic and foreign press agencies, 7 Offices of National Assembly Delegation and People's Council. Of these, 67 entries were selected for awards, including 5 A prizes, 13 B prizes, 16 C prizes, 31 Encouragement prizes and 2 open prizes outside the structure.

5 A prizes include the works "To make the National Assembly's supervision truly effective and efficient" ( Thanh Nien Newspaper ); "From life to the parliament" ( Dau Tu Newspaper ); "What solutions to improve the effectiveness of the National Assembly's supervision" ( Communist Party of Vietnam Electronic Newspaper ); "Policy response to urgent requirements" ( Voice of Vietnam ); "Brau's Aspiration" ( VTC Digital Television Station ).

The Dien Hong Award Ceremony was held at the Vietnam - Soviet Union Friendship Labor Cultural Palace, between the 5th session of the 15th National Assembly and the 75th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's call for patriotic emulation (June 11, 1948 - June 11, 2023), the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2023).
