On the same morning, President Luong Cuong and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, visited the Angolan Military History Museum located within the grounds of the Sao Miguel Fort (Fortaleza de São Miguel de Luanda).
After Angola gained independence in 1975, the Angolan government renovated the São Miguel Fortress into a Military History Museum under the management of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Culture. It displays a variety of weapons, equipment, and artifacts, including aircraft and tanks, used by the Angolan army during the war of independence. The museum also houses many statues that once adorned the avenues and squares of colonial Luanda and were removed after independence. Notable among them are the statues of Diogo Perro, the first European to set foot on Angolan soil; Paulo Dias de Novais, founder of São Paulo da Asunção de Luanda; and Vasco da Gama, discoverer of the sea route to India.
After being introduced to the outdoor and indoor exhibition areas, as well as the military history of Angola, President Luong Cuong wrote in his guestbook to express his honor to visit the Museum, which preserves memories of the indomitable and resilient struggle of the Angolan army and people for national independence, thereby helping to better understand the heroic history of the Angolan people, recalling the periods when the two countries accompanied and supported each other in the struggle for national independence.
