Livestream sales: Improving competitiveness for OCOP products

(GLO)- Livestreaming to sell and promote OCOP products is opening up new growth opportunities for entities in Gia Lai.

At the workshop "Improving the competitiveness of local specialties in the online trading environment" held on November 4 in Quy Nhon ward, many businesses and cooperatives were trained in sales skills and directly experienced approaching customers through digital platforms.

New momentum from livestream sales skills

The workshop "Improving the competitiveness of local specialties in the online trading environment" was organized by the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) in coordination with the Department of Industry and Trade of Gia Lai province, in which livestream sales activities became a highlight.

For 5 hours, 2 Tiktokers Hong Thi and Viet Ha of Sao Star Media and Entertainment Company Limited livestreamed to promote 20 OCOP products of the province on TikTok, Sao Star and Facebook channels. The program team supported the subject in preparing the shopping cart, promotion program and directly participated in introducing the products.

The skills practice session was lively, as the participants directly experienced sales under the guidance of experts. Many typical products of Gia Lai appeared in the program such as: Nam Cong bird's nest, Gu's coffee, Hoang Dong gai leaf cake, An Moc Thao honey, Giang Nguyen green chicken...

Notably, many OCOP product owners have clearly seen initial results after participating in the livestream. Ms. Hoang Thi Kieu Thien (Thien Tam cereal powder facility, Quy Nhon Nam ward) excitedly said: “After the livestream, the facility's personal page had many new customers following and placing orders. The important thing is that I learned how to create scripts and interact with customers. We are more confident in continuing to sell online in the future.”

Mr. Duong Dinh Kiet - representative of Tay Nguyen Macadamia Joint Stock Company (Kbang commune) commented: "Livestream helps our products reach the right group of customers who love clean agricultural products. This is a low-cost but highly effective promotional channel, creating a direct connection with consumers to the international market."

Sharing at the program, Tiktoker Viet Ha said: “I have livestreamed to support 8 provinces and cities selling OCOP products. Gia Lai products have competitive prices, good quality and are easy to reach customers. However, we need to promote more, livestream continuously every day so that customers know, try and become loyal buyers.”

Ms. Le Thi Le Thu - General Director of Sao Star Media and Entertainment Company Limited - emphasized: "The company has organized training for 500 people to do livestream to optimize online sales benefits. Coming to this workshop, I directly arranged the livestream schedule, checked the items, and instructed the subjects on how to present and create an impression on customers.

To compete effectively on e-commerce platforms, OCOP entities need to have specialized teams or cooperate with reputable Tiktokers; at the same time, they must put products on e-commerce platforms and take care of customers regularly.

Expand the market for featured products

Gia Lai province currently has more than 70,600 hectares of crops certified for good agricultural and organic production; 18 high-tech production areas with an area of ​​nearly 3,500 hectares; 981 valid OCOP products belonging to 507 entities, of which 851 products have achieved 3 stars (86.75%), 123 products have achieved 4 stars (12.54%) and 7 products have achieved 5 stars. Supporting entities consuming products is set by the Department of Industry and Trade as an important task.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Kha - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade - said: "In the current strong development trend of e-commerce, the province pays special attention and focus to improving the competitiveness of local specialties on online channels. The workshop is an opportunity for businesses to access modern e-commerce trends, expand the consumer market and enhance the brand value of Gia Lai OCOP products".

Regarding the orientation of e-commerce development in the period of 2026-2030, Ms. Tran Bich Ngoc - Deputy Head of Policy Department (Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade) said: "The management agency will focus on supporting businesses to take advantage of business trends on social networks, livestream and digital content platforms.

This is a potential sales channel, helping businesses reach consumers faster, reduce intermediary costs, while improving competitiveness and expanding the market in the context of strong changes in online shopping behavior.

Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Anh, representative of the cross-border e-commerce platform Gobiz Vietnam, shared: “Gobiz is implementing many solutions to accompany Vietnamese businesses, from training in digital sales skills to supporting the entire process of bringing products to the floor. We will create favorable conditions for Vietnamese goods to be exported online, participate in the global supply chain and enhance the position of Vietnamese brands in the international market.”

Enterprises’ proactive approach to digital platforms, along with support from specialized units, is opening up a sustainable development direction for Gia Lai agricultural products. When equipped with skills and effectively exploiting livestream channels, the province’s OCOP products can reach far and affirm their position on the domestic and international e-commerce map.
