The working trip has special significance and importance, being the first visit by a key leader of the Party and State of Vietnam to Armenia since the two countries established diplomatic relations.
Along with the visit to Vietnam in November 2024 by the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan, this visit not only opens a new page for parliamentary cooperation but also creates momentum to expand bilateral cooperation in various fields, for the benefit of development and prosperity of the two peoples.
The visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation actively contributes to promoting and enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation in all fields, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
The visit demonstrates Vietnam's appreciation for its traditional friendship with Armenia and its desire to work with Armenia to strengthen political trust, create a foundation to promote cooperation in many fields, and bring relations with each country to new heights.
In recent times, in bilateral cooperation channels, cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies has been a very important pillar, which has been continuously developing well, contributing to promoting bilateral relations. The two sides have maintained exchanges at multilateral forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Southeast Asian Nations (AIPA), and the Francophone Parliamentary Union (APF).
According to the working schedule, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will have meetings with large enterprises of the two countries, creating opportunities for enterprises of the two countries to connect, introduce the market and investment potential, thereby laying the foundation for expanding cooperation in areas such as processing industry, textiles, energy, transportation, science and technology, etc.
Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang said that in recent years, although the scale of investment has not been large and not commensurate with Vietnam's strengths and desires with Armenia, this is also a content that will be discussed by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Armenia's leaders to agree on measures to further explore and promote the scope and scale of cooperation in the coming time.
The Deputy Foreign Minister also said that Vietnam has established an Intergovernmental Committee on Economic-Trade and Scientific-Technological Cooperation with each country to coordinate and promote import-export, investment, and cooperation in the fields of industry, agriculture, transportation, science and technology, and many other fields.
“Vietnam signed a Free Trade Agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union, of which Armenia is a member, in 2015. Armenia and Vietnam are actively promoting transport connectivity to boost the exchange of goods and tourism as well as other areas of cooperation,” said Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang.
According to the leader of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the highlights of bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture, education, sports, tourism, and people-to-people exchange are being promoted by leaders of both sides, considering this one of the important areas of cooperation, playing a role in maintaining the fine tradition of friendship between the people of Vietnam and the Republic of Armenia, especially the young generation, on issues of concern to the people of the two countries.
