Consistent with the view that the environment should not be sacrificed for purely economic growth, the province pays special attention to and prioritizes the development of eco-industrial park models that meet sustainability standards, prioritizing the attraction of projects with high scientific and technological content; proactively reviewing and reorganizing the network of industrial parks and clusters, and strengthening the attraction of green FDI projects (direct investment projects from foreign capital in environmentally friendly sectors).
At the same time, restrict some environmentally polluting projects in the paper, footwear, rubber, and textile industries; prioritize the construction of model industrial parks with green spaces, water bodies, lawns, and waste and exhaust gas treatment systems that meet standards.
The province encourages businesses to reduce emissions and use clean energy, exploiting the potential of solar and wind energy. Along with the industrial sector, the province focuses on planning and constructing eco-urban projects, organic agricultural areas integrated with renewable energy, and increasing the area of urban green spaces and green areas in rural and mountainous regions.
Recognizing that green transformation is an inevitable trend and a mandatory requirement, the Party Committee, People's Committee, and mass organizations of Vu Di commune (Vinh Tuong district) have intensified propaganda and raised awareness among the people about green transformation, promoting solutions to improve the landscape and environmental quality, and building a livable rural area.
Every day, residents in the commune regularly sweep and clean from their homes to the streets, trim and care for trees, clear bushes and weeds, collect waste; and relocate, clean up, and dispose of business materials and advertising signs that encroach on the road, sidewalk, and pavement.
Many households have switched from using plastic bags to environmentally friendly materials for storing food and other items, and are using reusable shopping bags instead of plastic bags. Instead of using chemical fertilizers and harmful pesticides, people are actively participating in circular economy models and developing organic farming.
Organizations and schools are actively promoting environmental protection solutions, launching and organizing "Green Saturday" activities; expanding flower-lined roads and waste recycling models... As a result, a civilized lifestyle is gradually taking shape, people are gradually changing their way of thinking and doing things, and the environmental landscape in the commune is becoming increasingly bright, green, clean, and beautiful.
Spreading the message "For a green Vietnam" throughout the community, movements such as cycling, running, planting trees, replanning green living spaces, limiting the use of gasoline-powered vehicles, and participating in Earth Hour activities are increasingly being embraced by the people.
Ms. Ta Minh Nguyet, from Hoi Hop ward (Vinh Yen), said: “In response to the theme of World Environment Day 2025, ‘Fight Plastic Pollution,’ my family and I are gradually switching from using plastic materials to items made from other materials such as glass, ceramics, stainless steel, and plant-based materials. My family has also switched from using gasoline cars to electric cars...”
Thanks to proactive measures, environmental quality in the province is improving. According to a report by the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in 2024, ambient air quality, according to national technical standards, was within permissible limits. Water quality monitoring indices in river basins, streams, and still water bodies all increased. Heavy metal levels in the soil were lower than the national technical standards for permissible limits.
The province currently has over 33,400 hectares of forest; in 2024, 601.7 hectares of concentrated forest were newly planted, an increase of 0.28% compared to the annual plan. The forest cover rate remains stable at 25%. The proportion of urban green spaces and scattered green spaces is increasing.
Every year, relevant departments and localities have implemented numerous training courses on guiding people on sorting household solid waste at source, limiting the use of plastic bags and single-use plastic products; and have encouraged households to register for model programs on waste sorting at source, saying no to plastic bags and limiting the use of single-use plastic products…
Despite the achievements, Vinh Phuc's environmental protection and green transformation efforts still face many difficulties and challenges. Therefore, the province continues to promote awareness campaigns and enhance the sense of responsibility among people and businesses regarding environmental protection, climate change adaptation, greenhouse gas emission reduction, and biodiversity conservation; and to promote the development of green industries and green tourism towards sustainable development.
