Entering the hot season, the hot weather combined with high temperatures causes people's demand for electrical equipment to increase rapidly. This poses a higher risk of fire and explosion than usual.
Right from the beginning of the hot season, some localities in the province have had fires and explosions causing great property damage. This is a warning for people to pay special attention to the safe use of electrical equipment as well as to be careful when using heat sources... to minimize the risk of fire and explosion that may occur.
In Vinh Phuc , in recent years, fire prevention and fighting work has received special attention from Party committees and authorities at all levels and has continuously issued directives. However, in many residential areas, there is still a situation of arbitrary electricity connection.
Some people do not pay enough attention to fire prevention and fighting; self-inspection of electrical systems in houses and shops is not done regularly. Therefore, the risk of fire and explosion still exists and many fires have actually occurred.
On May 18-19, two major fires occurred in large-scale manufacturing enterprises in the province. Although they did not cause any human casualties, they caused great damage to the enterprises' assets.
Through the fires, it can be seen that the fire prevention and fighting work of units and enterprises has been paid attention to but still has shortcomings and potential risks of causing fire and explosion.
Currently, we are entering the hot season, with high temperatures and low humidity. This increases the risk of fire and electrical short circuits, especially in areas using old or overloaded wiring systems. According to statistics from the authorities, in addition to electrical short circuits, other causes such as carelessness in the use of fire and violations of fire prevention and fighting regulations in households and businesses also increase the number of fires.
Therefore, people and production and business establishments need to raise awareness of compliance with legal regulations on fire prevention and fighting, as well as proactive measures to prevent and fight fires on site.
To be proactive in fire prevention and fighting at agencies, enterprises and households, the Provincial Police have issued a document requesting departments, branches, agencies, organizations, enterprises and households to strengthen self-inspection to detect and immediately correct shortcomings and deficiencies in fire prevention and fighting, and not to let the risk of fire and explosion arise within the scope of management.
Strengthen inspection and supervision of proper implementation of operating procedures, periodic maintenance of systems, equipment, technological lines such as boilers, air compressors, transformer stations, drying ovens, etc.; ensure safety of electrical systems; regularly inspect, test, maintain, service, and maintain the operation of fire prevention and fighting systems equipped at the facility; maintain a regular regime of fire prevention and fighting forces at the facility; regularly organize training courses on fire prevention, fighting, rescue, and rescue; practice fire prevention and fighting and rescue plans.
Districts, cities, communes, wards and towns shall direct the strengthening of propaganda on the risks of fire and explosion, and regulations of the law on fire prevention and fighting. Direct the organization of fire prevention and fighting inspections, focusing on inspections of establishments with high risks of fire and explosion; strictly handle violations of fire prevention and fighting. In case of serious violations of regulations, resolutely suspend or stop operations.
Authorities recommend that when people discover a fire or explosion, they should call 114 to report the fire or explosion. At the same time, notify people nearby so they can evacuate safely.
If your office or business has a fire alarm system, activate the fire alarm button to alert everyone to the danger and prepare to evacuate. When evacuating, avoid using elevators and pay attention to emergency exits.
If the exit is surrounded by smoke and fire, find another way out, such as a window, balcony to the next house, use a ladder to escape to the ground, or make an escape to the roof if possible. Absolutely do not hide in a room or bathroom.
In case of safety, try to use available fire fighting equipment such as fire extinguishers or automatic fire extinguishers to extinguish the initial fire. In case of fire or explosion, try to avoid direct contact with flames and toxic fumes, cover your face with wet material and move close to the floor.
When firefighters arrive on the scene, follow their directions and instructions, provide detailed information about the fire situation, and assist firefighters in locating water sources and directing firefighting efforts.
