Vinh Phuc students won Gold Medal at Abu Rayhan-Biruni International Chemistry Olympiad

The Abu Reikhan Beruni International Chemistry Olympiad (also known as Abu Reikhan Beruniy) for students under 18 years old, organized by the Ministry of Preschool and General Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2025, took place from May 28 to June 4, attracting more than 110 contestants from 14 countries.

The exam consists of 2 rounds. The theoretical round consists of 8 tasks, each task is worth a maximum of 10 points, and lasts 4 hours. The practical round requires candidates to do experiments for 90 minutes, with a maximum score of 30. The total highest score of the 2 rounds is 110. The number of candidates with prizes does not exceed 60%; in which the distribution ratio of Gold Medals, Silver Medals, and Bronze Medals is 1:2:3.

The Vietnamese delegation had 4 students competing and all won prizes. The 3 students who won Gold Medals were Do Trung Kien, Bien Hoa High School for the Gifted (Ha Nam), Nguyen The Minh, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted and Trinh Duc Anh, Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted (Vinh Phuc); the Silver Medal belonged to Trinh Viet Hoang, Ha Long High School for the Gifted (Quang Ninh).

In particular, Do Trung Kien won two more prizes, as the candidate with the highest theoretical score and the excellent candidate, meaning he achieved the highest total theoretical and practical score.

For Vinh Phuc, this is the first year that a student has participated in this competition and won a Gold Medal. Trinh Duc Anh, a student of class 12A5 Chemistry, Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted, won second prize in the national competition for excellent students in the 2024-2025 school year and was summoned by the Ministry of Education and Training to the second round of the selection of teams to compete in the International Olympic competition.

Trinh Duc Anh was selected by the Vietnam Chemistry Association as one of four members representing the Vietnamese team to compete in the Abu Reikhan Beruni International Chemistry Olympiad. The achievements that Trinh Duc Anh has achieved have brought glory to himself, the school and the Vinh Phuc Education and Training sector, contributing to affirming the education of Vietnam in general and the Vinh Phuc Education and Training sector in particular in international academic arenas.
