According to a special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on the evening of October 18, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly visited the staff of the Embassy and met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Laos.
In a friendly chat with the people, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man stated that this visit of the Delegation to Laos aims to continue implementing the Party's foreign policy, proactively and actively consolidating and deepening political relations, promoting effective and substantive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in all fields, on all channels of the Party, National Assembly, Government and people-to-people exchange.
The National Assembly Chairman informed the people about the socio-economic situation and activities of the National Assembly; expressed his joy at seeing that the Vietnamese community in Laos is always united, well integrated, has a stable life and always complies with local laws.
The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated associations such as the General Association of Vietnamese in Laos, Vietnamese associations in the provinces, and the Association of Vietnamese Enterprises in Laos for their effective operations, promoting the role of mass organizations, uniting and connecting the community, actively participating in local social activities and always responding to the policies of our Party and State, actively participating in activities towards the roots.
The National Assembly Chairman hopes that associations in Laos will continue to closely coordinate, gather the Vietnamese community in Laos, and continue to encourage them to make more efforts, with the spirit of "building your country Laos is building your country," "helping your friends is helping yourself," as taught by President Ho Chi Minh: "Unity, unity, great unity - Success, success, great success;" "Nothing is difficult - Only fear that the heart is not steadfast - Digging mountains and filling seas - Determination will make it happen."
The National Assembly Chairman hopes that the Vietnamese community in Laos will continue to make more efforts and actively contribute to the economic development and construction of Laos; believing that the Vietnamese community in Laos will increasingly develop, unite, and turn towards the country; always preserve and promote the precious traditions of the nation, love, unite, and support each other.
At the same time, care for and educate children to always look back to their roots, preserve Vietnamese cultural identity; continue to contribute and join hands for a united, strong and developed community with prestige and position in the local society and contribute to fostering the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
The National Assembly Chairman said that recently, our State has issued new policies, as well as amended and supplemented a number of policies to concretize the Party's guidelines on caring for Vietnamese people abroad.
In the Land Law (amended), overseas Vietnamese have had their land use rights expanded, and land policies for overseas Vietnamese who are Vietnamese citizens are the same as those for domestic individuals.
This shows that innovation in promulgating policies and laws always pays attention to the Vietnamese community residing abroad.
The National Assembly Chairman requested the Embassy to continue to strengthen coordination with Lao authorities to deploy comprehensive measures to care for and support our compatriots, especially in remote and difficult areas, so that our compatriots can have a solid legal status, stabilize their lives, and develop their economy.
On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man presented 200 gifts to the Vietnamese community in Laos.
Previously, reporting to the National Assembly Chairman, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam stated that in recent years, under the direction of the Party and State leaders, the Embassy, with a high sense of responsibility, has strived to overcome all difficulties, done a good job of advising the country, acted as a bridge between the Party, State, National Assembly, Government agencies, ministries, branches, localities, and mass organizations to carry out specific tasks according to the agreement of the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries; ensured information and propaganda work, contributing to continuing to firmly consolidate the special Vietnam-Laos relationship.
Over the years, the Embassy and representative agencies have focused on building, consolidating and enhancing the role of the Association, from the General Association of Vietnamese in Laos at the central level to 16/18 provincial and municipal Associations in localities of Laos.
The community school system from kindergarten to high school is regularly cared for and developed, creating the best environment for Vietnamese children in Laos to develop in morality, intelligence, physical fitness and aesthetics.
On the same afternoon, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane, together with leaders of the National Assembly and Government agencies of the two countries, cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Holiday Inn & Suites Vientiane hotel.
The hotel is part of the 5-star hotel complex project - commercial center and class A office jointly invested by BIM Group (Vietnam) and the Lao Ministry of Security.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Logistics, Lao Ministry of Security, Major General Udom Sisongkham stated that this is a key project, large in scale and plays an important role in the Laos-Vietnam cooperation relationship; he believes that the hotel will become a leading destination, meeting all needs from tourism, long-term accommodation to organizing international events, contributing to the economic and tourism development of the capital Vientiane.
Major General Udom Sisongkham said that over the past 10 years, the sustainable cooperation between the Lao Ministry of Public Security and BIM Group has brought about high-quality hotel projects, serving the community's interests and promoting economic and cultural cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
The hotel inauguration ceremony once again demonstrates the effective cooperation between the Lao Ministry of Public Security and BIM Group, Vietnam.
Notably, the event took place on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos, symbolizing the deep friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
The hotel is located in a prime location in the heart of Chanthabouly district, just 15 minutes away from Wattay International Airport. The 10-storey hotel offers 273 rooms with a total area of nearly 3,000m2.
Earlier, on the morning of October 18, in the capital Vientiane, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly laid wreaths at the Monument to Unknown Martyrs./.
