National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man receives AIPA Secretary General

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated the significance of the program organized by AIPA from the initiative initiated by the AIPA Secretary General.

On the afternoon of August 25, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Secretary General of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Siti Rozaimeriyanty Dato Haji Abdul Rahman on the occasion of his visit and participation in the activities of the AIPA Roadshow, which was held for the first time in Vietnam.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated the significance of the program organized by AIPA from the initiative initiated by the Secretary General, connecting the young generation closer to AIPA as well as AIPA events and activities; affirming that Vietnam is an active and responsible member of AIPA.

The NA Chairman emphasized that ASEAN is entering a new phase of development, implementing the Community Vision 2045 and cooperation strategies in politics, security, economics, socio-culture and connectivity. The opportunities are huge, but the challenges are also great, especially in the context of the world and regional situation constantly changing in a complex and unpredictable manner.

In that context, ASEAN countries must unite more, cooperate more effectively, take advantage of advantages and potentials, exploit the latest growth drivers in the fields of science and technology, digital transformation, and green transformation. All disputes and differences must be resolved by peaceful means in the spirit of traditional solidarity and the common principles stated in the ASEAN Charter, the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC)...

The NA Chairman affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly will continue to actively contribute to AIPA activities, focusing on promoting parliamentary cooperation, supporting policies and legal corridors for the region's sustainable socio-economic development. Through AIPA, member parliaments can work together to build a solid legal foundation, effectively supporting governments in realizing ASEAN's commitments. The Vietnamese National Assembly is actively preparing and proposing a number of contents on related topics at AIPA Committees, ready to participate in discussions and contribute to draft resolutions and other initiatives proposed by AIPA member parliaments and the Joint Communiqué of the 46th AIPA General Assembly.
