Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Lu Quang Ngoi: Vinh Long is shifting the coconut industry towards modernity, calling for business investment

On July 28, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Lu Quang Ngoi received and worked with Luckaha Holdings Company Limited (HK) on coconut and coconut products of Vinh Long.

At the meeting, representatives of Luckaha Holdings Co., Ltd. shared their feelings after visiting and surveying the coconut material area in Vinh Long. The company wishes to cooperate with the locality in coconut water and coconut meat products. In particular, the products need sterilization and freezing lines to ensure quality and food hygiene and safety.

In addition, the two sides discussed further issues related to investing in factories and linking with existing companies in Vinh Long to accelerate cooperation and supply and consumption of coconut products in the province.

Vinh Long province has identified coconut as the province's key crop with nearly 120,000 hectares, accounting for about 50% of the country's coconut area. The total production value of coconut trees in 2025 is estimated at VND 4,180 billion (at 2010 comparative prices) and about VND 11,000 billion (at current prices), the growth rate of production value in the period 2020 - 2025 is 4.2% / year, accounting for nearly 10% of the production value of the crop industry, accounting for 6.5% of the agricultural production value and accounting for nearly 4.1% of the production value of the whole industry, contributing to the development of livelihoods, increasing income and improving the lives of nearly 270,000 households. Currently, the whole province has about 183 enterprises producing and processing coconut products, with many different types and scales of operation, creating jobs for more than 9,000 workers.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Lu Quang Ngoi said that, with the role of the largest coconut production and processing center in the country, Vinh Long province is actively transforming the coconut industry towards modernity, multi-value integration and environmental friendliness.

In recent times, the province has been calling for key investment projects in the agricultural sector in general and the coconut industry in particular. The Provincial People's Committee is committed to accompanying businesses on every step of the way, from supporting investment procedures, accessing raw material areas, connecting cooperatives, to creating favorable conditions for infrastructure, labor and consumption markets.
