Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung visited Vinh Son and Vinh Lam communes to meet and visit people whose houses were deeply flooded. At the same time, he provided timely support to the two communes, each commune with 50 million VND to help households with heavy damage in the area overcome immediate difficulties.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung stated that the upcoming flood situation will be very complicated and unpredictable, so he requested local authorities to continue to closely monitor the area, check households at risk of insecurity to guide and mobilize people to safe shelters, and not be subjective or negligent.

Localities need to promote the spirit of “4 on-the-spot”; need to prepare enough food, provisions and medicine to be able to hold out while waiting for the water to recede. Along with that, local authorities need to develop plans and support people to have enough plants and seeds so that when the water recedes, they can prepare in time for the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring crop.

Regarding the repair of infrastructure damage caused by natural disasters, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung noted that sectors and localities should prioritize resources for repairing traffic works to ensure smooth routes, facilitate people's travel, transport goods and facilitate rescue work. In addition, resources should also be allocated to focus on repairingeducational facilities affected by floods and storms, ensuring that students' learning is not interrupted.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh O commune, Tran Van Tang, said that in Vinh O commune, there are 383 households and 1,383 people living along the banks of Ben Hai river. The circulation of storm No. 6 recently caused heavy rain and continuously flooded 5 locations in the commune. The government and forces have developed response plans and scenarios to ensure the safety of people's lives and minimize property damage.
However, due to the strong flood water, Route 571, the main route through the commune, was washed away by nearly 40m, causing traffic to be temporarily cut off. Forces in the commune have been assigned to work 24/7 to regulate and support people traveling on the route. Chairman of the Commune People's Committee Tran Van Tang proposed that the Provincial People's Committee, Vinh Linh District and relevant sectors pay attention to support and promptly resolve the situation to create favorable conditions for people to travel and transport goods.

It is known that due to the impact of storm No. 6, from the night of October 26, 2024, Vinh Linh district has had heavy rain, strong winds, and rapid river water levels, causing widespread flooding. As a result, more than 1,200 houses were flooded, and nearly 800 people had to be evacuated to safety. 100% of students from 52 schools (17,932 students) in the district were given a day off on October 28, 2024.
