Join hands to reduce plastic waste - Spread green lifestyle
The Ministry of Education and Training has just sent an official dispatch to the Departments of Education and Training; universities, colleges, academies, junior colleges, and research institutes under the Ministry requesting them to organize activities in response to World Environment Day and the Month of Action for the Environment in 2025.
June 5th of every year is chosen by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) as World Environment Day. This is an annual international environmental event that Vietnam has responded to since 1982 and has become a nationwide movement, contributing to raising public awareness of environmental protection, responding to climate change, conserving biodiversity and promoting sustainable development.
In 2025, the theme chosen by UNEP is "Beat Plastic Pollution" to call on the global community to take drastic action to address plastic waste - one of the most urgent environmental challenges today. This is the second time in three years that this theme has been chosen, demonstrating global priority and commitment to action towards a circular economy and sustainable development.
Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 2141/BTNMT-VP of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the 2025 Environmental Action Month will be held from the end of May to June 30, 2025, with the communication focus being "Join hands to reduce plastic waste - Spread green lifestyle", with activities associated with effective implementation of environmental protection policies, implementing 04 key Resolutions of the Party and Government to promote substantive changes in controlling plastic pollution: (i) Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW; (ii) Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW; (iii) Resolution No. 66-NQ/TW; (iv) Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW.
In order to promote the role of the education sector in environmental propaganda and education, spreading green lifestyles and effectively implementing activities in response to World Environment Day (June 5) and the Month of Action for the Environment in 2025 at educational institutions, the Ministry of Education and Training requests the Departments of Education and Training, universities, colleges, academies, colleges, and research institutes under the Ministry (units) to focus on directing and implementing key activities.
