From January 1, 2021 to April 30, 2023, the whole province recorded 53 child abuse cases (10 boys, 43 girls). Of which, 6 children were abused, 41 children were sexually abused, and 6 children were harmed by other forms. According to the assessment of the Provincial Police, child abuse crimes in the province still have many potential complications. Through monitoring, the group of sexually abused children accounts for the majority, with 77.3% of the total number of abused children. The abuse cases mainly occur in remote areas, the subjects and victims are mostly ethnic minorities, and their legal awareness is still limited.
In Tua Chua district, a mountainous district with a large ethnic minority population, the direction, development and implementation of solutions to prevent child abuse has always been of interest to the Party Committee and the government in order to join hands in repelling the problem of child abuse. Mr. Nguyen Duy Hieu, Head of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Tua Chua district, said: The Department has coordinated with the police and related departments to strengthen propaganda on gender, sexual abuse and coping skills for parents, caregivers and children. Increase information on the National Child Protection Hotline 111 so that people can report and denounce acts of abuse and violence against children... Through these activities, it contributes to raising the responsibility of the community and society in preventing and combating child abuse.
To strengthen the prevention and reduction of child abuse, Dien Bien province has promoted the implementation of Resolution No. 121/2020/QH14 of the National Assembly on continuing to strengthen the effectiveness of the implementation of policies and laws on child abuse prevention and control. Accordingly, the work of propaganda, dissemination and education of laws on child protection, knowledge and skills on child abuse prevention and control has been carried out synchronously at the grassroots level. From January 1, 2021 to April 30, 2023, the police force coordinated with sectors and organizations to organize 2,451 sessions of propaganda and dissemination of laws for over 168,000 participants; organized 1,350 residential areas, 129/129 communes, wards and towns, 700 agencies, enterprises and 107,884 household representatives to sign a commitment to ensure security and order. At the same time, conduct inspections, checks, and supervision of the field of children and people under 18 years old; develop and deploy models for preventing and abusing children, educating and assisting minors who violate the law...
Faced with the consequences of child abuse, along with the involvement of functional sectors, the cooperation of families and the community is also very important. Each family needs to pay attention to managing and educating their children about life skills and awareness of self-protection against sexual abuse.

Through specific stories, life situations and reminding her not to have close contact with people of the opposite sex... I have helped my daughter distinguish between acts of abuse, sensitive areas of the body that cannot be touched by others, and the differences between men and women. From there, I have helped my daughter build awareness to proactively protect herself.
Child sexual abuse is not a new crime, but it is always a "hot" issue. To effectively prevent and combat child abuse, relevant agencies need to continue to promote propaganda work both in breadth and depth; enhance education on life skills and skills to prevent child abuse. Localities need to continue to effectively implement models and activities to create a safe and healthy living environment for children. Along with that, the community and society should resolutely prevent and combat child sexual abuse right from each family and residential area, so that all children can live in a safe, friendly, healthy environment and develop comprehensively.
