Recently, NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) captured a "special" image of the Sun on October 28, which looks like a spooky Halloween pumpkin looking down at Earth.
In the image taken by SDO, the dark coronal holes and bright active regions combine to form the image of glowing eyes, a nose and a mischievous smile.

The vast coronal hole - an area on the Sun's surface where the magnetic field opens up, allowing charged particles (solar wind) to flow freely into space - has created the "mouth".
According to experts, this particular crater is spewing a high-speed stream of solar wind towards Earth, which could cause a small to medium geomagnetic storm between October 28 and 29.
If geomagnetic storm factors intensify, auroras may extend farther from the poles than usual.
Coronal holes are quite common. Last month, the Sun showed an image that looked like a heart or a bird.
