In Dak Lak, with nearly 70% of the population living on agriculture , promoting digital transformation in the banking sector has been expanding access to capital, payments and modern financial services to every village, helping people change their transaction habits, improve production efficiency and quality of life.

Changing people's transaction and payment habits

With just a few simple steps on a smartphone, whether at home or on a coffee plantation, Mr. Y Minh Nie, in H'Ding hamlet, Ea Tul commune, Dak Lak province, can easily pay for fertilizers, pesticides or electricity and water bills. According to Mr. Y Minh, with a banking application installed on a smartphone, as long as there is an internet connection, not only can payment be made conveniently but also access many financial services at low cost, even free.

"Before there was no app, I went directly to the bank, but now it's easier to transfer money on my smartphone. With the banking app, I save time and don't have to travel, and I can transfer money at home," Mr. Y Minh shared.

As for Ms. Nguyen Thi My, owner of a construction materials and entertainment service business in village 5, Ea Tul commune, thanks to the digital banking application, payment transactions are more convenient, revenue and expenditure are clearly controlled, especially without having to carry cash but can transfer to a bank card and consider it as a small wallet. Ms. My is also a "loyal customer" of the bank with a loan of more than 4 billion VND.

"I have been borrowing from the bank for 10 years now. Agribank has helped create favorable conditions for loans to develop the economy. The procedures are simple, fast, and streamlined, and the money is disbursed into the account. Before, I had to pay interest directly at the counter, but now I only need to transfer money. For example, if I pay interest on the 30th, I will transfer it around the 25th."

Not only individual customers, cooperatives and agricultural enterprises also benefit from digital utilities. The connection between banks and tax, customs and treasury agencies helps enterprises fulfill financial obligations quickly, transparently and cost-effectively.

Ms. Trieu Thi Hanh, Binh Minh Agricultural and Service Cooperative, Cu Mgar Commune shared: "We, the accountants, find this app very convenient. We don't have to go to the bank to make transactions regularly, but can do everything on the app, and can do it while sitting at the company."

Improve competitiveness and reach customers

Identifying digital transformation as a key task to improve competitiveness, banks in Dak Lak province are stepping up guidance for people and businesses to use digital services, while standardizing customer data linked to the national population database.

Mr. Huynh Cong Su, Deputy Director of Agribank Cu Mgar branch, said: "Agribank Cu Mgar branch propagates to customers to make loans and collect debts automatically using E-banking application, helping customers save costs, time, and be proactive in paying off debts. For banks, it saves costs on paperwork, travel appraisal process and some other costs, improves operational efficiency, helps banks collect correctly, fully and promptly".

Along with putting technology into operation, bank branches also focus on training digital skills for staff, coordinating with functional agencies to build a synchronous digital ecosystem in the area.

Ms. Vu Mai Sa, Deputy Director of Agribank North Dak Lak branch, said: "We actively deploy products and services applying modern technology, equipping and upgrading CDM/ATM systems to rural areas and remote areas. Standardizing customer data, collecting biometrics in accordance with the national population database. Converting the model and transaction channels from counter service to automatic service and using products and services on digital channels, customers are not limited by space and service time".

Digital transformation is becoming an important driving force for the Dak Lak banking system to expand financial service coverage, helping people in rural areas access capital, make payments and manage finances more conveniently. Not only "reaching the hands" of people, digital banks also accompany farmers to reach modern production, contributing to realizing the goal of national digital transformation, developing the digital economy to the villages.
