Tomiyasu's Tragic Injury.

On November 5, defender Tomiyasu turned 27, an age when he should have been in good health and at the peak of his career. However, nearly 5 months after leaving Arsenal, the Japanese star has yet to find a new home.

After missing most of the 2024/25 season, Tomiyasu and Arsenal agreed to terminate his contract ahead of schedule this summer. It was thought that becoming a free agent would help Tomiyasu quickly find a new destination, but injuries continue to haunt him.

Tomiyasu is currently recovering from knee surgery earlier this year. The Japanese international is expected to miss the first half of the 2025/26 season.

However, even if he recovers, the possibility of Tomiyasu returning to the field this season is quite low, meaning he will hardly have the chance to attend the 2026 World Cup with Japan.

Some sports medicine experts are concerned that Tomiyasu will have difficulty returning to top competition, due to recurring knee injuries. Since moving to England, Tomiyasu has suffered a total of eight different injuries and more than 456 days off, a record number for Arsenal last season.

It is not known when Tomiyasu's injury "nightmare" will end. Arsenal's medical team once feared that the Japanese international would never regain his previous fitness. That is the reason the "Gunners" terminated his contract.

Before coming to Arsenal, Tomiyasu played for Sint-Truiden (Belgium) and Bologna (Italy). He has 8 years of experience playing in Europe and has been sought after by many big teams. Now, the Japanese star is having difficulty staying in major tournaments.
