Selangor have been playing poorly in ACL2 this season. |
On the evening of November 6, in the 4th match of Group G, Selangor, despite leading 2-0 after only 17 minutes of play, then let the Indonesian champion, Persib Bandung, come back to win 3-2, including two goals in just over 10 minutes of the match.
With this result, Selangor was eliminated from Champions League 2 after losing all 4 matches, not gaining a single point. The atmosphere at MBPJ Stadium (Petaling Jaya) on the night of November 6 turned into a real "battlefield", when hundreds of Selangor fans boycotted and even vandalized because of their team's bitter defeat.
The result marked a disastrous Asian season and thrust club owners into the eye of a storm of criticism from fans.

Selangor (red shirt) had a shocking defeat. |
Immediately after the final whistle, hundreds of Selangor fans gathered outside the main gate of the stadium, turning the space into a public "trial". Slogans demanding responsibility echoed everywhere, with CEO Johan Kamal Hamidon being repeatedly called out as a traitor.
Some of the fans even stormed into the main stands, trying to approach the VIP area to confront the management directly. They blocked the exit to the field, holding banners criticizing the poor management decisions – from player recruitment to playing strategy – that made Selangor's ACL2 season a "historic disaster".
The incident quickly escalated, forcing security forces to intervene urgently to calm the crowd and prevent further conflict. Videos circulating on social media showed fans confronting police, chanting slogans against “irresponsible owners”, and some even getting into scuffles with local police. Fortunately, no serious casualties were reported.
Up to now, the Selangor FC leadership has remained silent on the incident, and has not made an official announcement. The incident is not only an internal "storm" within Selangor but also reflects the great disappointment of Malaysian football in the face of the rise of Southeast Asian rivals such as Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand.
