The story of preserving traditional profession in "Heir of Tam Duc"

A drama created by young people because of their concern for the health of the elders in the family. Mr. Tam (Quan Khai) has a rich life, his children and grandchildren love him, but in his heart he always worries about the unfinished story of his youth. That is the Quang noodle shop where he and his late brother once built to preserve the family business. Because of the difficult life, Mr. Tam gave up making noodles, changed to another business and became rich as he is today.

As he grew older and became sick, Mr. Tam became more nostalgic about the past, causing his spirit and health to deteriorate. Feeling sorry for his grandfather, Thao Nhi (Mi Lan) came up with a bold plan: hire someone to approach Mr. Tam to learn how to make Quang noodles. The person hired was Hoang Trung (Tran Phong), an unemployed acting student. According to the agreement with Thao Nhi, Hoang Trung played the role of a food enthusiast and came to Mr. Tam to learn the craft.

The appearance of Hoang Trung made Mr. Tam's spirit revived, eager to reopen the noodle shop and pass on the profession to Trung. Hoang Trung, who knew nothing about Quang noodles, gradually learned to love this job. The relationship between Hoang Trung and Thao Nhi also gradually changed over the years. “The Heir of Tam Duc” deeply explores the traditional cultural values, family affection and Vietnamese cuisine, especially the famous Quang noodles in the Central region. Although it originated from a play, having a successor helped Mr. Tam heal, reduce his torment about the past, and most of all, helped him relive his youthful years full of passion for the traditional noodle making profession and find the next generation to keep the profession, fulfilling his wish. Hoang Trung himself, through each day of working, listening to Mr. Tam tell stories, felt the passion and value of the traditional profession, so he gradually became more serious when learning the profession. Hoang Trung not only learned how to make noodles but also learned how to be a person. He became a person with ideals, aspirations and inherited a value greater than food, which is the heart and virtue of those who have lived a decent life with their profession and with life.

The film has a gentle story but contains many valuable messages about love, tolerance and the desire to preserve good things for the future. Dreams that seem to have fallen asleep can still be awakened when people have faith and sincerity, like Mr. Tam's teaching to Hoang Trung and Thao Nhi.
