General Secretary and President To Lam's visit promotes Vietnam-China relations to new heights

Ahead of the State visit of General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife to the People's Republic of China from August 18-20, speaking with VNA, Mr. Lang Duc Quyen, researcher at the China Center for International Studies, researcher on Vietnamese issues, former head of the Xinhua News Agency in Hanoi, said that after being elected General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on August 3, General Secretary and President To Lam choosing China as the first country to visit is both expected and hopeful.

This fully reflects that General Secretary and President To Lam and the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam will inherit the political legacy of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, attaching great importance to continuing to promote the revolutionary friendship of "both comrades and brothers" between Vietnam and China; consolidating and strengthening the traditional solidarity and friendly cooperation between the two Parties and two countries.

Researcher Lang Duc Quyen said that General Secretary and President To Lam is a good friend and comrade of the Chinese people; he also believes that through this visit, China and Vietnam will cooperate more closely in the new journey of building a community with a shared future of strategic significance and actively promote the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries to new heights.

According to Mr. Lang Duc Quyen, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and other leaders of the Party and State of China will have meetings with General Secretary and President To Lam to discuss plans to enhance political mutual trust and deepen comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and the two countries in the new situation. China and Vietnam are two friendly neighboring countries, mountains connected to mountains, rivers connected to rivers, with ample space and prospects for extensive cooperation in many fields. Comprehensive cooperation between China and Vietnam is complementary and mutually beneficial, and will certainly effectively promote the cause of socialist modernization in each country. This not only conforms to the profound aspirations of the people of the two countries but also brings practical benefits to the people of the two countries.

The State visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to China attracted the attention and positive evaluation of the people of the two countries, as well as regional and international public opinion.

Researcher Lang Duc Quyen said that the two countries are stepping up efforts to implement the results of the historic visit of Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping to Vietnam late last year. Mr. Lang Duc Quyen expressed his belief and expectation that the meeting between the two leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam and China will achieve new important results and take new, solid steps, further deepening the building of a community with a shared future of strategic significance. He also stated that the two countries together follow the path of socialist modernization with their own characteristics and will make positive contributions to peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region and the world.
