Mr. Cao Van Hoang, born in 1955, residing in Phu Loi C Hamlet, Phu Kiet Commune (Cho Gao District) - a typical member of the Veterans Association, is a pioneer in developing the local family economy. During his military service, Mr. Hoang worked at the Cho Gao District Military Command and then at Division 4 (Military Region 9). In 1982, Mr. Hoang returned to his locality to continue working and producing.

Starting a business with hardships from the early days of doing business, Mr. Hoang said: “Before, life was very difficult even though we had land for production, but we didn’t know how to cultivate, my family mainly grew rice, which didn’t bring in much income.
After many years of saving a little capital and thanks to support from the Social Policy Bank loan, I began to learn from experience and boldly changed the crop structure, from rice cultivation to Malay coconut cultivation; at the same time, I implemented a model of raising pigs and chickens on a farm...”.
With his will, determination and diligence, from 2 hectares of rice fields left by his parents, he has accumulated and expanded the area to nearly 3 hectares of land. With the motto of "taking short-term to sustain long-term", Mr. Hoang has been successful in growing and raising livestock and poultry, including growing Malay coconuts and building a farm model including: 100 sows, 900 pigs and 20,000 black chickens for egg production, creating high income for his family, on average, Mr. Hoang earns about 2 billion VND per year after deducting expenses.
Not only is he a pioneer in developing the family economy, Mr. Hoang is also an exemplary person in strictly implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and local policies; he is willing to support the locality with 300 million VND for social charity work.
At the same time, Mr. Hoang also created conditions to help many workers and families of War Veterans Association members in difficult circumstances to have jobs and stable incomes in many forms such as: Sharing techniques, closed pig farming models, ways to do household economics, lending capital to develop the economy.
For many years, Mr. Hoang has been awarded many Certificates of Merit and Merit Certificates at the district, provincial and central levels. In 2020, Mr. Hoang's family's closed-loop livestock farming model was visited and highly appreciated by the Central Economic Committee's delegation. In 2023, Mr. Hoang was honored to receive the Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Association of the Elderly for the 4th time as "Outstanding Elderly People with Good Economic Performance in the Country".
Chairman of the Association of War Veterans of Phu Kiet Commune, Doan Cong Truc, said that Mr. Cao Van Hoang is not only an exemplary leader in economic development, but also an enthusiastic member of the movements and activities of the Association and the locality.
HARD WORK TO RISE UP
Veteran Tran Van Vu, residing in Binh Trung hamlet, currently Vice President of the Veterans Association of Thanh Nhut commune (Go Cong Tay district) is a shining example of diligence, not afraid of difficulties, striving to develop the family economy, and is also exemplary and a pioneer in movements launched by the Association at all levels and local authorities.

With a difficult starting point, Mr. Vu boldly changed the crop structure, renovated the previously ineffective mixed garden to grow coconut and green coconut, bringing a stable income for the family. In particular, Mr. Vu has a passion for ornamental flowers, especially succulents, with more than 100 different varieties. Sharing the secret of growing succulents, Mr. Vu shared, in my opinion, to be able to produce and achieve economic efficiency, first of all, you need to be persistent and hard-working in the face of difficult conditions in production.
Along with that, it is necessary to research and grasp the market, the products that are favored by consumers, choose plant and animal breeds suitable for local soil conditions. At the same time, it is necessary to research, learn from experience and boldly apply science and technology to production. Thanks to his perseverance and hard work, Mr. Vu has maintained a succulent garden and a miniature bonsai garden for more than 10 years, which is very popular with customers.
With the work of the Veterans Association, he always fulfills all tasks assigned by superiors, mobilizing members and people to participate in the Association's activities such as: participating in environmental protection, maintaining security and order, coordinating with associations and unions to participate in local emulation movements to build new rural areas.
