After 50 years of singing the song of triumph, Bac Lieu is entering an era of development and rising up with the nation. The historic victory of April 30, 1975 has long passed, but historical artifacts and documents are still preserved to tell today's generation about the glorious victory of a passionately patriotic nation, of the great truth that Uncle Ho affirmed: Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom!

Visitors listen to the Provincial Museum's tour guide introduce a photo collection about the Great Spring Victory of 1975, liberating Bac Lieu.

Located on Cach Mang Street (Ward 1, Bac Lieu City), Vinh Duc Pagoda - a historical and cultural relic, stands silently before the hurried flow of time. It has been 50 years since the country was reunited, Bac Lieu today has changed a lot but the historical marks of this pagoda in contributing to the people's return of power on April 30, 1975 are still intact.

In the proud atmosphere of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the liberation of Bac Lieu, Vinh Duc Pagoda is one of the “red addresses” foreducating revolutionary traditions. At this pagoda, a small, solemn corner is dedicated to worshiping heroic Vietnamese mothers, intellectuals, Buddhist dignitaries, and leaders of Bac Lieu province through the ages… as a reminder for future generations to forever remember the merits of those who sacrificed for the peace and unification of the country.

Mr. Thich Quang Thiet - Abbot of Vinh Duc Pagoda, is 80 years old this year but the memory of the liberation day of Bac Lieu is still deeply imprinted. According to Mr. Thiet, at Vinh Duc Pagoda, on the night of April 27 and early morning of April 28, 1975, comrade Le Quan - Deputy Secretary of Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee wrote a letter to Colonel, Governor of Bac Lieu - Nguyen Ngoc Diep with the content calling for surrender and handing over the government to the people. With the wise leadership of the Standing Committee of Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee, the intelligence, courage and creativity of the Front Command and the boiling spirit of the people, Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Diep finally handed over the government to the revolution on the morning of April 30, 1975.

Celebrating 50 years of the country's joy, Bac Lieu has just inaugurated the Provincial Museum in Block B, C of the Cultural and Art Exhibition Center and Cao Van Lau Theater. Here, the exhibition space about the Great Victory of Spring 1975 has brought cadres, people in the province and tourists back in time to the fiery days of April. About 100 documentary photos, many of which are not clear, are authentic and heroic footage of the heroic and indomitable struggle of the heroic army and people of Bac Lieu.

That is the image of our troops entering Bac Lieu town on April 30, 1975, of more than 20,000 Bac Lieu people and cadres participating in the parade to celebrate the victory of April 30, of all the people taking to the streets to celebrate the liberation day on the morning of May 1. People cheered, carrying flags and slogans “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom”, “Long live President Ho Chi Minh ”…

Le Quoc Bao - a student of Bac Lieu High School (Bac Lieu City) recently visited the new museum. Through the tour guide's explanation and vivid documentary images, this young man was filled with emotion and gratitude for the heroic sacrifices of the martyrs for the complete victory of the South and the country's reunification. Quoc Bao confided: "Each artifact and documentary image at the museum carries within it the story of the aspiration for peace of the army and people of the South in general, and Bac Lieu in particular. We are fortunate to be born in a peaceful sky and will forever remember the merits and cherish the revolutionary achievements of our ancestors. Forever proud of the victory of April 30, 1975, we vow to study hard and contribute to building a beautiful and rich homeland, joining hands to bring Bac Lieu into the era of national development".

In the sacred moment of 50 years of national reunification, the artifacts in Bac Lieu homeland are like “witnesses” to the day of national victory. They are also a bridge connecting today’s and future generations with history, nurturing pride and love for the country in each person.
