On the evening of April 18, Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club lost 0-1 to Hong Linh Ha Tinh at Pleiku Stadium in round 19 of V-League 2024 - 2025.

It is noteworthy that Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club reacted strongly to the referee after the match ended because they thought a goal was unfairly taken away.

The reaction came from Minh Vuong's goal not being recognized by the referee in the 21st minute after reviewing VAR. The reason was that Dung Quang Nho had previously fouled Huynh Tan Tai before the ball reached Minh Vuong's feet.

According to the referee team's report, after the match ended, the referee team was in the referee room when the head of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club, Nguyen Tan Anh, and technical director, Vu Tien Thanh, opened the door, entered, and began cursing and insulting the referee about the disallowed goal.

Meanwhile, both Mr. Nguyen Tan Anh and Vu Tien Thanh affirmed that they only reacted to the referee's wrong decision and did not insult him.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Anh shared: "After the match, Mr. Thanh and I went into the referee's room and said that the referee had made a wrong decision in favor of the away team. We reacted but did not curse the referee."

"To ensure the match finishes safely and does not affect the match, the club's leadership will react after the match. If we react right away while the match is in progress, it will cause disruption and affect the match.

The club respects the organizers and the audience, so it reacted after the match ended," Mr. Tan Anh added.

In addition, Mr. Tan Anh said that tomorrow (April 19), Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club will file a lawsuit with the Vietnam Football Federation and the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Department requesting clarification on the refereeing issue in this match.

"The club will fight to the end," Mr. Tan Anh affirmed.

For his part, Mr. Vu Tien Thanh said he entered the referee room to protest because he could not accept such a negative referee.

"The match had VAR but the referee was manipulated, fooling hundreds of experts, the press and millions of TV viewers.

Everyone watching thought the goal was offside, but after reviewing the VAR, it was revealed that Dung Quang Nho committed a foul. In this situation, Nho put pressure on the goalkeeper, Huynh Tan Tai returned the ball to the goalkeeper, but Minh Vuong took the ball and scored," he said.

Informing that Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club will sue the referee, Mr. Vu Tien Thanh also said: "We will sue the referee. Thanh Hoa Club, Hanoi Police ... have all written complaints to VFF. They even sent a petition to the Criminal Police Department like Thanh Hoa Club did this season.

The leaders of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club will do the same and fight to the end."

"Why has the refereeing problem been a pain for many years (I used to be a coach at Saigon FC and Ho Chi Minh City and had to deal with refereeing problems many times) not been resolved? Why?", Mr. Thanh was indignant.
