On the afternoon of May 12, at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, the Vietnamese women's team had a practice match with the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club. The match ended in a 0-0 draw, giving both teams the opportunity to test many positions in the lineup.
In the first half, both teams fielded strong lineups. The Vietnamese women's team featured key players such as Tuyet Dung, Van Su and Duong Thi Van. On the Ho Chi Minh City side, coach Kim Chi also used notable names such as Chuong Thi Kieu, Huynh Nhu, along with foreign and overseas Vietnamese players including Pakistan women's team captain Maria Khan, Japanese midfielder Sakura Yoshida, American midfielder Aubrey Goodwill, striker Sabrina Cabrera and Nguyen Hoang Nam Mi - a defensive midfielder of Vietnamese origin from Canada.

Although it was just a practice match, both teams entered the match with a fierce spirit. The midfield witnessed many tense battles. With the advantage of physique and physical strength, the foreign players of Ho Chi Minh City Club dominated the one-on-one and aerial battles. This made it difficult for the midfield of the Vietnamese women's team, which had limited height, to deploy their play.
However, Ho Chi Minh City FC failed to take advantage of their opportunities. The most notable situation in the first half was Sabrina's shot that went over the crossbar.
In the second half, both teams made changes in personnel. The Vietnamese women's team played better in the final minutes, creating a balanced game. However, neither side scored, and the match ended in a goalless draw.
This match is an important part of both teams' preparation for upcoming tournaments. For the Vietnamese women's team, this is the first training session towards the 2026 Asian Cup qualifiers, which will take place in June. According to the schedule, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will have another friendly match with Werder Bremen women's club on May 16.
On the side of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club, Coach Doan Thi Kim Chi and her students have an important opportunity to review their squad before the semi-final match with Wuhan Jiangda Women's Club in China on May 21.
