After 8 seasons playing for The Cong - Viettel, Duc Chien decided not to continue playing for the army team to move to a new environment. Before Duc Chien, in 2024, the army team had already said goodbye to the iconic player of Viettel's youth training center, Nguyen Hoang Duc.
The next destination of this player is said to be Phu Dong Ninh Binh , the club that just won the First Division Championship and won the right to play in the V-League next season. Many rumors say that when joining the same team as Hoang Duc, Duc Chien will also receive great treatment, with a signing bonus of up to more than 20 billion VND in 3 years.
If the deal comes true, Duc Chien will be one of the blockbuster names in the domestic transfer season before the 2025-2026 season.
As for The Cong - Viettel, the army team is considering gradually finding a replacement for Duc Chien's role for the next season. Nguyen Duc Chien was born in 1998 in Hai Duong. He grew up in the Viettel youth training system, was a typical player of the 1997 - 1998 generation with Nguyen Hoang Duc, Nguyen Trong Dai, and contributed significantly to the campaign to win the 2018 First Division championship.

The Cong - Viettel defense in the seasons with Duc Chien was very solid with the lowest number of goals conceded in the league.

He was called up by coach Hoang Anh Tuan to the Vietnam U20 team to prepare for the 2017 U20 World Cup, called up by coach Park Hang Seo to the Vietnam U23 team to attend the 2019 SEA Games (winning the gold medal) and the Vietnam team to attend the third qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup.
In 2025, Duc Chien was called back to the Vietnam national team by coach Kim Sang Sik to participate in the third qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
