Recently, on the Tien River, in the An Thanh embankment area, Hong Ngu ward, Dong Thap province, a school of natural fish has appeared. What is special is that the school of fish lives comfortably, swims freely and is carefully cared for by human hands.

Where the fish appear
The school of fish includes many species of freshwater fish such as: pangasius, catfish, perch, silver carp, catfish, and croaker... In which, the majority are pangasius with an average weight of 2-10kg each.
The wild fish are protected and fed daily so they are very bold and can be petted easily.
To protect the fish, recently, the local government and people of Hong Ngu ward have paid attention to protecting and feeding the fish every day, so the number of fish coming here is increasing. The total fish population can reach tens of tons.
As one of the units contributing to the protection and regeneration of aquatic resources, the Hong Ngu Aquatic Resources Protection Community Group, consisting of 70 members, always strives to protect this natural fish population.
Mr. Truong Minh Hai, Head of the Hong Ngu Aquatic Resources Protection Community Group, said that the Tien River is one of the two major rivers flowing through Dong Thap. More than a year ago, noticing that some fish species were taking refuge in the An Thanh embankment area, the local government and people protected and fed them, so they came to live in larger numbers.
According to Mr. Hai, the members of the group are representatives of organizations in the ward such as: Women's Union, Farmers' Association, Youth Union... and people.
The organizations and members of the group regularly propagate and mobilize people not to catch wild fish; at the same time, organize the release of more fish to regenerate aquatic resources.

The Hong Ngu aquatic resources protection community group, Hong Ngu ward, feeds the natural fish.
The Hong Ngu aquatic resources protection community group also uses bamboo fences around the river wharf and raises water hyacinth to provide a safe place for fish to live. In addition, the group also installs lights, surveillance cameras and has people on duty at night to protect the natural fish on the Tien River.
Thanks to good propaganda and mobilization work, local people are very active in protecting the fish and contributing food for them.

Tie ropes to protect the fish
Mr. Tran Ngoc Hung in Hong Ngu ward was very excited and proud to introduce to friends near and far one of the special features of his hometown, which is the natural river fish.

Schools of natural fish "play" in the water
Mr. Hung said he participates in looking after and protecting the fish; invites friends to visit and mobilizes support for industrial feed for the fish. In addition, he also collects waste vegetables, tubers, and fruits from the market to use as fish feed...
