The event is part of Package No. 1 of the Rural Electricity Supply Project from the national grid in the province, under the "Light Up Dien Bien " program invested by the People's Committee of Dien Bien province, implemented from the end of 2024 with a total cost of more than 1,519 billion VND.

Comrade Le Thanh Do talked with people on the day of power connection.

In Muong Dang alone, the project has built more than 16 km of medium voltage lines, more than 10 km of low voltage lines and 4 transformer stations. The completion of the first package after more than 6 months of construction in complex mountainous terrain conditions is considered a great effort by the local government and electricity sector.

“With electricity, people will have more convenience in daily life, animal husbandry, production and access to information. This is an important condition for developing household economy and building new rural areas,” Mr. Le Thanh Do - Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee emphasized at the power connection ceremony.

The program "Light Up Dien Bien" will be implemented until 2026.

Many households were moved when they first saw electric light from light bulbs instead of dim oil lamps and expressed their desire to receive additional support for household appliances, training in safe electricity use, and access to economic development loan policies after electricity is available.

According to the plan, the “Light Up Dien Bien” program will be implemented until 2026, bringing national grid electricity to 47 communes, 110 villages with more than 5,000 households without electricity. The total construction volume is expected to include 365 km of medium voltage lines, 105 transformer stations and more than 276 km of low voltage lines.

By the end of 2024, the entire Dien Bien province will have reached a rate of 100% of communes having electricity, nearly 94% of households have access to the grid, of which rural areas reach nearly 93%.
