Since becoming a daughter-in-law, the Phu Tho girl has never celebrated Tet in her husband's hometown. Every year, her husband takes her to her parents' house to celebrate Tet for nearly a month.
Celebrating Tet at my maternal home for 2 consecutive years
“Tet in the paternal home – Tet in the maternal home” is often a hot topic of discussion every time Tet comes. For girls who marry far away, this is considered a “hot topic”.
Each family has a different way of celebrating Tet in their paternal and maternal hometowns. Some couples choose to celebrate Tet alternately, this year celebrating Tet in their paternal hometown and next year celebrating Tet in their maternal hometown. Some couples are willing to travel to celebrate Tet in both hometowns.

For Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen (born 1999, from Phu Tho), "Tet at the paternal home and Tet at the maternal home" has never been a topic of discussion. Being a daughter-in-law in Quang Ninh , nearly 300km away from home, for the past 2 years her husband has taken her to celebrate Tet at her maternal home.
Recently, a video recording the moment Kim Tuyen was taken to her parents' house for Tet by her husband on TikTok attracted nearly 100,000 views and thousands of likes.
She shared: "My husband always thinks about his wife and children. He said, he has been in his hometown all year, so he should go back to his hometown for Tet to have fun, because if his wife and children stay in his hometown, they will be lonely and I feel sorry for them.
Every year, he takes his wife and children to his parents' house to celebrate Tet and then goes back to work. I am lucky to have a husband who is understanding and considerate of his wife and children. Although he is poor, he loves his wife and children, and that is enough.
Below the video, netizens left comments praising Kim Tuyen as a lucky wife to have a loving and understanding husband. Some people also expressed that being able to return to her mother's hometown to celebrate a full Tet is the wish of many daughters-in-law.
Kim Tuyen is happy to be loved and understood by her husband.
Kim Tuyen got married in 2022. Tuyen's husband is the eldest son in the family. After the wedding, she and her husband lived with her husband's family.
On Lunar New Year 2024, Tuyen was taken by her husband to her mother's hometown on December 15, then stayed to celebrate Tet until January 8 before returning to her husband's house. On Lunar New Year 2025, the schedule was the same.
“For Tet 2024, my husband gave me 20 million VND to go to my parents’ house for Tet. This year, he gave me 25 million VND. He told me that I had been in my husband’s hometown all year, so I should go to my parents’ house for Tet to have fun. My mother-in-law also happily agreed to that,” Tuyen shared.
More than 10 days ago, Tuyen's husband took his wife and children to his parents' house to celebrate Tet. He stayed there for a few days and then returned to Quang Ninh to work. After Tet, Tuyen's husband picked her up and brought her back home.
“My family situation is very special. My parents divorced when I was 9 years old, and my siblings and I live with our mother. Since I got married, there has only been my mother and my younger brother at home. If I can’t come home for Tet, the house will be empty and lonely.
Every year, my mother is happy when her daughter gets to come home for Tet. I feel lucky that my husband and his family understand my family's situation," Tuyen said.
Get married after 20 days of dating

Couple married after 20 days of dating
When the other person took the initiative to text to get to know each other, Tuyen was still indifferent. But after 1 month, she felt his sincere feelings and was moved.
“He is 8 years older than me, is practical, caring, and attentive to the person he loves. Instead of sweet words, he shows his love through actions.
At that time, I lived far from home and always craved love and attention. He came along and made up for my lack of affection, which made me emotional,” Tuyen said.
After 20 days of dating, Tuyen was asked to marry him. She accepted and they officially became a family.
In the 2 years they lived together, Tuyen and her husband never raised their voices at each other. Since giving birth, Tuyen has been a housewife and took care of the children. She has always been loved and respected by her husband.
“He is a practical man, never complaining or nagging his wife. Although he is not rich, he has never let his wife and children lack anything.
I am a housewife but he doesn’t ask for much. When I am too tired to cook, the whole family goes out to eat. Every month, he gives me some money to spend and take care of the children. Before I got married, I had a hard time taking care of the family finances. After I married him, my life has improved a lot,” Tuyen confided.
