In recent days, social media platforms have continuously seen posts with the keywords "chill guy" or "chill guy/girl".

Along with that is the image of a brown dog with its hands in its pockets and a smile.

"Chill guy" is a cartoon dog drawn by American artist Philip Banks. The dog has a calm, composed facial expression as if it would not be affected by anything happening around it.

Born in 2023, the image of the brown dog and the keyword "chill guy" have only recently become popular thanks to the response of the online community. Recently, this keyword has been used by many young people to express optimism and calmness in the face of difficulties and challenges.

Currently, on TikTok alone, there are nearly 500,000 posts with the keyword "chill guy". In Vietnam, "chill guy" is translated as "chill girl" or "chill guy".

To have an article responding to the "chill guy" trend, netizens will use the formula: "The situation, the problem I'm facing + but it's okay/don't care/still fine/feeling happy... + because I'm a chill guy/girl".

Typically, some TikTok accounts share: "Waking up at 5am to put on makeup, record clips to post on TikTok, but my channel only gets a few dozen views, but it's okay because I'm a relaxed girl."

Another person wrote: "I opened a hair salon and all morning I only earned 30,000 VND, but it's okay because I'm a relaxed girl", or "It's almost Tet and I'm broke, but it's okay because I'm a relaxed guy".

Many Vietnamese artists and famous TikTokers also joined this trend. Singer Gil Le wrote: "The crew forced me to film but it was okay because I'm a relaxed guy."

Many young people said they responded to this trend because they felt it was a way to motivate people, helping them calmly overcome everyday incidents and always remember that no matter what life is like, don't forget to relax and keep your mind light.

On the other hand, some others worry that this trend may encourage people to be indifferent to reality, not focus on the issues that need to be solved, ultimately affecting their ability to cope with challenges.
