Stocks soar, billionaires' assets skyrocket to new record

The assets of USD billionaires in Vietnam have increased rapidly in line with the upward trend of stocks.

VN-Index has reached a historical peak of over 1,600 points and a series of stocks have increased sharply. In particular, the group of blue-chip stocks always rotated upwards, leading the general increase of the market. This also brought the assets of USD billionaires to a new record.

Specifically, according to Forbes (USA), billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong's assets currently reach 12 billion USD, an increase of 24 million USD in the past day. This is a new record asset value of the leading billionaire in Vietnam. Thus, in just the past 2 weeks, billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong's assets have doubled and he is now ranked 220th on the list of the richest people in the world. The group of stocks belonging to the Vingroup ecosystem including VIC, VHM, VRE and VPL have all increased sharply in recent times.

Stocks of many businesses increased, bringing the assets of Vietnam's USD billionaires to a new record.

Vietnam's only female billionaire, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - Chairwoman of Vietjet Air - also set a new record when reaching 3.3 billion USD. Her assets also increased by 100 USD since the beginning of August when Vietjet's VJC shares as well as Ho Chi Minh City Development Bank's HDB shares were among the stocks that increased strongly on the Vietnamese stock market. Compared to the value of assets at the beginning of this year, the female billionaire has pocketed an additional 800 million USD.

Also having a high increase in assets is the Chairman of Hoa Phat Group, Mr. Tran Dinh Long, who currently has a record asset of 2.8 billion USD - an increase of 200 million USD compared to the end of July and a total of 500 million USD more than the beginning of the year. In just the first 10 trading days of August, HPG shares of Hoa Phat Group traded actively with the price increasing by nearly 13%.

Not far behind, Techcombank Chairman Ho Hung Anh also had his assets rise to a record $2.6 billion for the first time, an increase of $200 million compared to a month earlier and $900 million higher than the beginning of this year. Techcombank’s TCB shares and Masan Group’s MSN shares, which are related to this billionaire, continued to rise.

Similarly, MSN shares have continuously increased strongly in many sessions, including some purple sessions, which also brought the assets of Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang - Chairman of Masan Group to 1.2 billion USD, 200 million USD higher than at the beginning of this year. However, his current assets are only equal to last year and far below the highest level according to Forbes ' ranking of 1.9 billion USD in April 2022.
