The index struggled at a low price in the first 30 minutes of the afternoon session before gradually recovering.
At the end of the session, VN-Index decreased by more than 10 points (0.8%) to 1,254.64 points. VN30-Index decreased by more than 3 points thanks to the support of the banking group. On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, HNX-Index and UPCOM-Index decreased by around 1%.
Total market liquidity reached over VND24,000 billion, of which HoSE alone was over VND21,000 billion, an increase of over VND3,400 billion compared to the previous session. Foreign investors net bought about VND440 billion today.
At the end of the session, HoSE had 96 stocks increasing in price, compared to 350 stocks decreasing in price.
MSN was the stock that contributed the most to the VN-Index with 0.4 points when this code increased by 1.7% to 72,200 VND. In contrast, GVR was the stock that weighed down the index the most when it decreased by more than 5%.
In the large-cap group, besides MSN, banks are the pillars of the market. HDB, TPB, TCB increased by more than 1%, CTG, VCB closed above the reference. On the contrary, GVR, BVH, FPT , PLX, GAS were in red.
In the mid-cap group, insurance, chemical, oil and gas, securities and some real estate stocks were under pressure. These codes generally decreased by 1-3%. Some other codes such as HVN and HHS fell to the floor.
