Vietcombank shares lead, real estate group races to break out, VN-Index up nearly 11 points

Speculative cash flows strongly into small and medium-cap stocks, especially real estate stocks, helping the market trade actively. Vietcombank and the real estate group are bright spots in the market.

Continuing to extend the upward momentum of the first session of the week (August 19) at 1,261.62 points, the stock market continued to increase positively even though the amount of stocks traded in the "explosive session" last Friday had just returned to investors' accounts.

At the opening of the trading session on August 20, market fluctuations were still relatively positive. The early part of the session witnessed the increase of some pillar stocks such as BID, VRE, VCB, VHM, VIC, CTG... which helped pull the indices above the reference level. Although selling pressure increased at times, good demand quickly joined in and helped maintain the green color of the general market.

Meanwhile, trading in the afternoon session took place with quite surprising developments. The aforementioned pillar stocks "gave way" to real estate stocks. Speculative cash flow strongly into the real estate group helped the market trade vibrantly and helped expand the green color of the general market.

The real estate group recorded codes such as HPX, DXG, PDR... all being pulled up to the ceiling price. In addition, CEO increased by 8.4%, NVL increased by 5%, DIG increased by 5.7%. On August 19, DIG announced the appointment of Mr. Nguyen Hung Cuong (born in 1982) to the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors to replace Mr. Nguyen Thien Tuan, the appointment period is from August 16. Thus, after the appointment, Mr. Nguyen Hung Cuong is both Chairman of the Board of Directors and also the legal representative of the company.

In addition, some stocks in the securities group also had positive developments. In particular, HBS was pulled up to the ceiling price, VND increased by more than 4%, CTS increased by 2%, MBS increased by 1.8%, VDS increased by 1.6%...

In the retail group, PNJ continued to maintain its positivity when it increased by 3% after the previous ceiling price session. Besides, PET and FRT both increased by over 1%.

Among large-cap stocks, VCB increased by 2.25% to VND90,800/share today and was the stock with the most positive contribution to the VN-Index with 2.71 points. Next, BID also contributed 1.73 points when it increased by 2.6%. VHM increased by 2.07% and contributed 0.84 points to strengthen the green color of the general market.

On the other hand, it decreased by 1.88% and was the stock with the most negative impact on the VN-Index, taking away 0.29 points from the index. VNM also decreased by 0.53% and took away 0.2 points. Stocks such as LPB, HDB, TCB or HPG were also on the list of stocks that negatively impacted the VN-Index.

VCB is the leading gainer pulling VN-Index up.

At the end of the trading session, VN-Index increased by 10.93 points (0.87%) to 1,272.55 points. The entire floor had 264 stocks increasing, 136 stocks decreasing and 80 stocks remaining unchanged. HNX-Index increased by 1.3 points (0.55%) to 237.31 points. The entire floor had 100 stocks increasing, 59 stocks decreasing and 64 stocks remaining unchanged. UPCoM-Index increased by 0.38 points (0.41%) to 94.1 points.

Total trading volume on HoSE reached 810 million shares, up 16% compared to the previous session, equivalent to a trading value of VND19,016 billion. Trading value on HNX and UPCoM reached VND1,430 billion and VND694 billion, respectively. VIX was the stock with the strongest matching orders in the market with 37.7 million shares. DIG and NVL matched orders of 26 million shares and 25.4 million shares, respectively.

Foreign investors returned to net buying in the session of August 20.

Foreign investors returned to net buying 330 billion VND on the HoSE, in which, this capital flow bought the strongest net code VCB with 158 billion VND. FPT and MWG were net bought 128 billion VND and 98 billion VND respectively. On the contrary, VHM was net sold the strongest with 180 billion VND, far surpassing the second code GAS with 42 billion VND.a
