Hanoi police announced the decision to pardon 139 prisoners

On the morning of May 1, at Detention Camp No. 1 and No. 2 of Hanoi City Police, the announcement ceremony of the Amnesty Decision on April 30, 2025 took place.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), on April 29, 2025,the President signed a decision to grant amnesty to 8,055 prisoners nationwide; of which 139 prisoners were granted amnesty at 2 detention camps under the Hanoi City Police. These are prisoners who, during the execution of their sentences, have shown repentance, determination to work and study, and have been evaluated by the prisoner community.

To implement this year's amnesty, the City Police's detention camps have widely disseminated to each prisoner about the subjects and conditions for amnesty consideration; based on the results of emulation, training, and reform of each prisoner, they have organized for prisoners to introduce and vote publicly and fairly.

After the announcement of the President's amnesty decision, the detention camps under the City Police organized the amnesty procedures, provided funds and new uniforms for the amnestied people. In order to facilitate the amnestied people to return to their localities, the City Police directed functional departments and commune-level police to advise local Party committees and authorities on plans to receive, manage,educate and help them reintegrate into the community; overcome difficulties and inferiority complex; strive to become useful citizens for their families and society.

Up to now, Hanoi City has completed the implementation of the President's Decision on amnesty on April 30, 2025 in the spirit of "in accordance with the law, ensuring democracy, objectivity, fairness, publicity, transparency and strictness, correct subjects, prescribed conditions, not allowing errors and negativity to occur". Thereby affirming the leniency policy of the Party, State and the humane tradition of the nation towards those who have made mistakes and know how to repent, reform and become useful people for society; at the same time, encouraging prisoners who have not been granted amnesty this time to continue to strive, study, and practice to progress in order to enjoy the leniency policy.
