Việt NamViệt Nam10/09/2024

Storm No. 3 has passed but left behind heavy property damage to many businesses. With the spirit of overcoming difficulties, self-reliance, and not relying on support from the State, the business community in the province has proactively overcome difficulties, quickly bringing factories and enterprises back into operation.

Storm No. 3 blew off 6,500 square meters of the roof of the factory and raw material warehouse of Do Luong Joint Stock Company, Do Luong Industrial Park (Dong Hung).

Much damage was done

Despite proactive measures to respond to storm No. 3, many businesses suffered heavy property damage due to the strong wind and gusts of the storm.

After nearly 3 hours of fighting the storm, some factories of Mikado Ceramic Tile Factory of Thien Hoang Technical and Commercial Joint Stock Company in Tien Hai Industrial Park had their roofs blown off with a total area of over 10,000m2 . Wind and rain poured into the warehouse and factory, damaging many production equipment and raw materials, with estimated damage of tens of billions of VND.

Not only Mikado, most of the enterprises in Tien Hai Industrial Park, which is located near the sea, had their factories damaged by the storm and tens of thousands of trees were knocked down, not only causing property damage but also hindering rescue and recovery work after the storm.

Similar to Tien Hai district, many enterprises in Thai Thuy district also had their factories and trees destroyed by storm No. 3. It is initially estimated that about 35,000m2 of factory and farm roofs were damaged in the whole district; many trees were broken, fell, and uprooted. The storm caused problems for the 22kV and 35kV medium voltage lines, 17 transformer stations had porcelain explosions, more than 450 electric poles were tilted, fell, and broken, causing widespread power outages, making it even more difficult for many enterprises to overcome the damage and restore production.

In the city and districts of Vu Thu, Kien Xuong, Dong Hung, Quynh Phu, Hung Ha, many businesses were also devastated by storm No. 3, including their surrounding walls, factories, warehouses, and trees. The most serious damage was to Do Luong Joint Stock Company in Do Luong Industrial Park (Dong Hung), where the storm blew off 6,500 square meters of the roof of the warehouse and production workshop, causing more than 200 machines, equipment of all kinds, and all raw materials, fabrics, and garment accessories to be damaged, with an estimated loss of tens of billions of VND.

Promoting internal resources to overcome and stabilize production

Immediately after the storm passed, with the spirit of self-reliance, businesses quickly set about overcoming the consequences of the natural disaster.

Promoting the spirit of self-reliance, more than 1,400 workers of Tan De Company volunteered to clean up and rebuild fallen trees right after the storm.

Mr. Le Tuan Thien, Party Secretary of Tan De Sports Products Manufacturing Joint Stock Company, said: Before the storm, the Company spent nearly 1 billion VND to buy additional materials and equipment to reinforce the factory, protect goods, machinery and equipment, and support the tree system. However, storm No. 3 was so strong that it broke, felled, and uprooted thousands of trees in the factory premises. From the morning of September 8, more than 1,400 officers and workers volunteered to come to the Company to clean up, clean the environment, erect and support fallen trees, and ensure safety conditions to welcome nearly 16,000 workers back to the factories for normal production on the morning of September 9.

At Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant, staff and workers are on duty operating 2 generators through the storm.

Mr. Mai Van Long, Director of Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant, said: The most encouraging thing is that the entire system of factories, warehouses, machinery and equipment was not damaged, once again affirming that the quality of the plant's construction meets technical and safety indicators against natural disasters. Storm No. 3 only caused newly planted trees in the factory premises to break and fall. Immediately after the storm, along with maintaining production operations, the Plant mobilized human resources and materials to organize the reconstruction and take measures to care for and restore the trees, and at the same time organized a general environmental cleaning.

With a tired face because of having to work day and night with his staff and workers to fix the damaged roof of the factory and warehouse, Mr. Pham Bach Tung, Director of Thien Hoang Technical and Commercial Joint Stock Company, shared: From early morning of September 8 until now, all staff and workers of the Company have focused on overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and re-production. Because the damaged area of the factory is too large, we have decided to focus all resources on clearing the rubble, repairing the factory as much as possible and putting it back into production immediately. With the tireless efforts of staff and workers and hiring additional construction forces, by the afternoon of September 9, the Company had put 3/4 of the factory into operation, ensuring jobs for workers as well as meeting delivery schedules for domestic and export partners.

Just two days after the storm passed, Thien Hoang Technical and Commercial Joint Stock Company has put 3/4 of its damaged factories back into normal production.

The business community and enterprises in Thai Binh have a tradition of solidarity, self-reliance, dynamism, creativity and rising up in difficult times. Before, during and after storm No. 3, many enterprises supported each other in preparing for natural disasters, protecting human lives and property, sharing difficulties, and together stabilizing production soon. A typical example is Green i-Park Joint Stock Company giving up its official house and office as an evacuation and safe shelter for nearly 100 workers of enterprises constructing works and projects in Lien Ha Thai Industrial Park. The company also supported mattresses, blankets, drinking water, and instant noodles for workers during their stay to avoid the storm. Tien Thinh Investment and Construction Development Joint Stock Company and Minh Danh Company Limited mobilized workers, machinery, and equipment to support a number of enterprises in rebuilding fallen large trees and repairing steel structure factories, helping units quickly return to production and business.

Mr. Do Van Ve, Chairman of the Provincial Business Association, said: With the indomitable and resilient tradition of Thai Binh land and people, the business community in the province has strongly stood up after the damage caused by the storm, not expecting support, relying on the authorities, proactively overcoming the situation to quickly return to production and business activities. Each business has the mindset of using intelligence and talent to overcome natural disasters, protect jobs for workers and maintain business development in difficult circumstances - that is also the beauty of Thai Binh business culture.
