The goal is to turn the capital into the country's leading locomotive in key and supporting industries, with products aimed at regional and international levels.
Affirming the role of supporting the capital's industry
Implementing Resolution No. 23-NQ/TU of the Politburo on Orientation for building national industrial development policy to 2030, vision to 2045 and Plan No. 204-KH/TU of the Hanoi Party Committee, the Department of Industry and Trade has advised the City People's Committee to deploy the "Program for developing priority industries for the period 2021-2025". The program focuses on developing industries with high competitive advantages, with spillover effects to other fields, such as: Information technology, precision mechanics, electrical and electronic equipment, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, agricultural processing, etc.

Thanks to these efforts, from 2021 to 2024, Hanoi has attracted hundreds of businesses to register to participate in the key industrial product program. In 2024, the city recognized 289 key industrial products, far exceeding the target set for the 2021-2025 period. These products not only meet domestic demand but are also exported to markets with high standards.
According to Chairman of the Board of Directors of Viet-Tiep Lock Joint Stock Company Nguyen Van Tuan, despite facing a lot of competitive pressure from similar products, Viet-Tiep lock products still occupy a large market share and maintain their leading position in the Vietnamese lock industry, thanks to the company's continuous updating of technology, innovation of product designs and materials, etc.
According to General Director of Mechanical Tools Export Joint Stock Company Nguyen Ngoc Chung - one of the key industrial product manufacturing enterprises in Hanoi, the company always aims to make products of international quality, to both serve Vietnamese people and reach out to the world .

Each year, these enterprises achieve revenue of nearly 200,000 billion VND, accounting for nearly 35% of the city's total industrial production value. Not stopping at the domestic market, key industrial products have grown very rapidly in export value, with turnover reaching nearly 2 billion USD.
Prioritize the development of some industries with competitive advantages
To comprehensively support businesses, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade organized the 2024 Key Industrial Products Exhibition, with the participation of more than 200 booths from large enterprises and FDI enterprises. The fair created opportunities for connecting key enterprises with domestic and foreign partners; supporting trade promotion, finding partners, signing trade agreements, developing markets, connecting with businesses in the supply chain, meeting the needs of large manufacturers, promoting the ability of businesses to integrate into the international economy, etc.
In addition, the Department also organized many training courses to improve management skills, digital transformation and supply chain participation for nearly 600 business leaders; connecting more than 50 enterprises producing key industrial products with research institutes and universities in the area, to support businesses in accessing scientific research topics for application in production practice.
According to Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Kieu Oanh, the city prioritizes the development of a number of industries with competitive advantages, the ability to participate deeply, and contribute high added value to the production network and global value chain.
