Innovate to adapt

When Nhan Co Alumina Plant officially went into commercial operation in 2017, many workers who were exposed to modern technology for the first time felt overwhelmed. The closed production lines and highly automated equipment required workers to not only have the ability to work, but also to have a deep understanding.

However, now, thanks to the combined training and practice, many of them have become professional technicians, production shift managers and operators.

“When I first started working, I couldn’t tell the difference between the furnace system and the recovery area, but now I’ve mastered every step. Whenever there’s a problem, I can tell where the problem is just by listening to the machine noise,” Pham Van Trung, a worker at the Raw Materials - Separation Workshop, shared with a confident smile.

Mr. Trung himself always seeks to improve his professional knowledge and skills to be able to recognize the dangers in daily production work. Through that, he has initiatives and solutions to contribute to the management board to perfect the production process to be safer and more effective.

As for Ms. Hoang Thi Thuy, a worker in the Quality Management Department, she is a typical example of discipline and responsibility. Every day when entering the factory, she always ensures full labor protection and complies with work procedures.

“Labor protection equipment is now very modern, machinery and equipment are also taken care of and maintained regularly, so workers can work more effectively and safely than before,” Ms. Thuy shared.

The growth of the factory workforce comes not only from experience, but also from the spirit of continuous learning. Most workers here are trained through internal programs. Some are sent to advanced studies at institutes and technical schools.

In the context of the aluminum industry entering a period of deep industrialization and increasing automation, workers are not only operators but also real engineers.

They directly participate in technical improvements, providing solutions to save fuel and improve equipment performance.

“We are proud to have contributed our efforts from the very beginning and are even more excited to see that we are still at the center of that transformation journey,” said Mr. Pham Van Trung after finishing his shift.

Not only operating the current factory, the alumina workers are also a key factor for future bauxite projects when the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group and Dak Nong province are promoting investment in bauxite, alumina, and aluminum electrolysis factory projects.

At that time, the technical force and highly skilled workers from Nhan Co Alumina Factory will be the core force leading the next links, especially in the transition to higher technology such as aluminum electrolysis.
