On the afternoon of June 2, Cong Phuong returned to practice with his teammates after 2 days of recovering from an injury at the hotel. It is known that the Binh Phuoc Club striker has pain in the sole of his foot, preventing him from doing strenuous exercise.
It was thought that Cong Phuong had recovered, however, his injury was more serious than expected. After a thorough examination, the team's doctors decided to let the 30-year-old striker return to his club for further treatment.
Thus, Cong Phuong will miss the match against Malaysia on June 10. This is a pity because the striker from Nghe An showed great determination in this training session.

Before joining the Vietnam national team, Cong Phuong continuously shone for Binh Phuoc Club. Despite being injured and having to miss many matches, he still scored 7 goals to lead the list of top scorers, in addition to 2 goals in the National Cup.
Especially in recent rounds, Cong Phuong has had 3 great goals from set-piece situations. The impressive performance of the striker born in 1995 forced coach Kim Sang Sik to go directly to the field to monitor, before deciding to call back the former HA Gia Lai striker.
After nearly 2 years, Cong Phuong returned to the Vietnam national team, but after only a few days, he had to say goodbye to the team in an undesirable way. Not only is Cong Phuong sad, but coach Kim Sang Sik is also having a real headache as the Vietnam national team is facing a "storm" of injuries.
In this training session, in addition to Xuan Son and Vi Hao who have not recovered from their injuries, coach Kim Sang Sik could not call up Van Toan for the same reason. After finalizing the list, the Korean strategist received bad news from the injuries of Van Thanh, Thanh Binh and Viet Anh, forcing him to call up Van Toi and Ly Duc to supplement the Vietnamese team.
In the case of Cong Phuong, it is known that coach Kim Sang Sik decided to promote striker Quoc Viet from the U22 team to replace him. This striker born in 2003 is known by the nickname "King of Youth Tournaments" thanks to his impressive achievements in national youth tournaments, including winning the title of Top Scorer at the U17, U19 and U21 National Tournaments.
He used to play for the youth teams of HA Gia Lai and Nutifood JMG before being promoted to the first team of HA Gia Lai to compete in the V-League. At the beginning of the 2024 season, Quoc Viet moved to play for Phu Dong Ninh Binh Club in the First Division, in order to find more opportunities to play and gain experience.
On the international stage, Quoc Viet has been a member of the U19, U20 and U23 Vietnam teams, participating in many important tournaments such as the U23 Southeast Asian Championship, SEA Games and the U20/23 Asian Finals. He is highly regarded for his technique, finishing ability and tactical thinking, promising to be a quality addition to the Vietnamese team's attack in the near future.
Thus, the Vietnamese team currently has 4 strikers, including: Tien Linh, Tuan Hai, Thanh Binh and Quoc Viet.
