The practice match between the two teams at the Youth Football Training Center (VYF) was divided into 3 halves, each lasting 30 minutes. Bui Alex was brought on in the second half, playing in the right wing attacking midfielder position.
In the past year, this position has often been held by Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Nguyen Dinh Bac, Nguyen Quoc Viet or Vo Anh Quan. Due to Thanh Nhan and Dinh Bac being injured, and Quoc Viet being promoted directly to the Vietnam national team, Bui Alex was given the opportunity to try out this position.
During his time on the field, Bui Alex played well. He moved in sync with his teammates, passed the ball well to the surrounding satellites and actively advanced when U22 Vietnam had a chance to counterattack.
According to Tuoi Tre Online , Bui Alex was praised by his teammates for his good performance with the ability to move without the ball and confidently dribble and break into the middle. However, because the opponents were seniors with a lot of experience in the national team, in a match where U22 Vietnam did not have much of the ball, the overseas Vietnamese player born in 2005 could not shoot a single shot.
Viktor Le himself, the main player for U22 Vietnam at the CFA Team China 2025 tournament held last March, also had an unsatisfactory match due to the superiority of the Vietnamese team's defense.
In the end, U22 Vietnam lost 1-2 to the national team in the practice match. The only goal scorer for U22 Vietnam was Le Van Thuan ( Thanh Hoa ), with a personal effort when he broke through the middle and skillfully curled the ball past goalkeeper Nguyen Filip.
Although U22 Vietnam does not have any tournaments in June, the results of this training session and practice match are meaningful in the team's preparation for the U23 Southeast Asian finals taking place in July and further, the U23 Asian qualifiers 2026 and SEA Games 33 taking place at the end of this year.
Acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh has also had relatively good test results with new recruits, including overseas Vietnamese player Bui Alex. This is the basis for head coach Kim Sang Sik in the coming time.
After the internal match on the afternoon of June 4, the two teams will have a light practice at VYF stadium on the afternoon of June 5 before coach Kim Sang Sik and the Vietnamese team depart for Malaysia on June 6.
Bui Alex was born in 2005, currently living in the Czech Republic, with Vietnamese parents. He was given the opportunity to return to Vietnam for the first time to practice with U22 Vietnam during FIFA Days in June. Alex has a fairly good physique compared to the domestic players, is right-footed, and has the ability to integrate very well thanks to his fluency in Vietnamese, English and Czech.
