Masan's Minerals Firm Stands Steady Amid Global Trade Turbulence

A diversified strategic mineral portfolio is helping Masan High-Tech Materials (MHT) maintain its position against global challenges from trade tensions and new waves of US tariffs. Specifically, all of MHT's export products including Tungsten Oxide (HS code 282590), Acidspar (252922) and Bismuth (810690) are classified as strategic minerals and are not subject to the new reciprocal tax rate.

In the face of increasing global trade tensions, MHT remains stable thanks to its diversified strategic mineral portfolio and a market network spread across continents.

With the US market accounting for approximately 10% of total revenue, MHT is resilient and resilient to challenges from a volatile economic environment.

Currently, China (which controls more than 80% of the global supply of tungsten and bismuth) is narrowing the supply of these strategic minerals. Especially after China announced in February 2025 that it would restrict the export of these two key minerals, diversifying the global supply has become even more urgent.

As the US pushes forward with its strategy to reduce dependence on minerals from China, MHT is leveraging its strengths with a diverse and stable product portfolio, including Tungsten, Fluorspar and Bismuth.

While imports from China are currently subject to a basic tax rate of 20%, MHT's exports from Vietnam are exempt from reciprocal taxes, giving the Company a clear competitive advantage.

This advantage has been reflected in the sharp increase in quotation requests from major markets such as the United States, Japan, Korea and Europe; and in addition, there have been more direct visits from international partners to MHT’s manufacturing plants in Vietnam. As trade tensions continue to escalate, this positive trend is expected to continue to expand, creating more strategic opportunities for MHT.

The new tariffs are expected to hit China's manufacturing and exports hard, prompting swift retaliation from Beijing, including imposing 34% reciprocal tariffs on US goods and banning exports of seven rare earth metals.

As trade tensions continue to escalate, the risk of new restrictions is inevitable. This development is prompting major industrial economies around the world , not least the United States, to urgently review their supply chains and step up the search for alternative sources to mitigate risks.

MHT will continue to closely follow global trade fluctuations, proactively update partners and customers, and be ready to seize all new opportunities in the context of a volatile market.
