Bac Lieu Traffic Police strengthen handling of "drunk drivers"

The Traffic Police of Bac Lieu Police have implemented many measures to control and reduce traffic accidents, focusing on handling violations of alcohol concentration when participating in traffic.

Based on the directives of the Traffic Police Department ( Ministry of Public Security ) and the Provincial Police Director, the Traffic Police Department has implemented many solutions to ensure traffic safety; developed a plan to handle 7 groups of violations that are the main causes of traffic accidents, including violations of alcohol concentration of vehicle drivers. Strengthened patrols on key routes and areas; mobilized maximum forces, vehicles, technical equipment, set up alcohol concentration checkpoints during peak hours, especially from 6pm to midnight.

Bac Lieu Police Traffic Police Department has increased the handling of people violating alcohol concentration when participating in traffic.

With the motto "No forbidden zones, no exceptions, no days off", from the beginning of 2025 to now, the Provincial Traffic Police have inspected, detected and handled over 600 cases of violations related to alcohol concentration. Nearly 3 billion VND was fined, 234 driving licenses were revoked, and more than 600 vehicles of all kinds were temporarily detained. The resolute handling of violations related to alcohol concentration has contributed to reducing the number of traffic accidents in the area; creating positive changes in people's awareness and sense of law compliance when participating in road traffic.

The Provincial Police Traffic Police Department distributed leaflets about traffic safety to the people.

In addition to patrolling, the Traffic Police Department organized over 50 sessions to disseminate traffic safety laws with over 8,600 participants. Through professional work, directly disseminated to over 42,000 people to comply with traffic safety laws. Actively coordinated with news agencies and newspapers to publish many news, articles and reports to disseminate traffic safety work, especially advising people not to use alcohol, beer and alcoholic beverages when driving. Thereby creating a clear change in people's awareness of law compliance, contributing to reducing the risk of traffic accidents in the province.

Mr. Tran Quang Chanh (residing in Hamlet 7, Ward 1, Bac Lieu City) shared: “After being informed by the traffic police, I clearly saw the harmful effects of drinking alcohol while driving. I often remind my relatives that when they have consumed alcohol, they absolutely should not drive, to protect their health and the lives of others.”

Lieutenant Colonel Bui Trung Kien, Head of the Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Police, said: “To improve the effectiveness of ensuring traffic safety, the unit has stepped up propaganda and mobilized people to strictly comply with the provisions of the law when participating in traffic, especially not driving after consuming alcohol or beer. Strictly handle cases of alcohol concentration violations with the goal of building good habits for people, minimizing damage to life, health and property of traffic participants.”

It is thought that every citizen needs to raise awareness, strictly comply with the provisions of the law on traffic safety, and form a culture of "If you drink alcohol, do not drive". Thereby, contributing to restraining and minimizing the number of traffic accidents, bringing a peaceful and happy life to yourself, your family and society.
